So yesterday I got fed up with seeing "Media Server" chew through 25% or better of my battery. I read around and saw that an FDR would fix it. Fine, uninstall SS3, unfreeze the bloat, and do the FDR...
Today I get home from work and I'm at 15%.
I unplugged the phone at 7, I get home at 5.
And except for my two breaks and lunch, it's in airplane mode... so less than an hour of internet use.
So WTF gives? I'm rooted but no roms or SS yet, on 246. I do listen to music, but it's already on the phone, not streaming... and I'm using AOSP music... and have most of the bloat locked down. Like really WTF is chewing through? OH heres media server back to 27%... Anyone know wtf the deal with this program is? And I know battery life will get alil better with a few days, but GOD DAMN! Not making it 12 hours with less than an hour of internet and a few hours of music is TERRIBLE IMO.

That problem usually indicates a bad media file (mp3, jpg or video.) I found an mp3 was causing it on mine. Deleted the file and no more problems.

It could also be an app trying to download something. Do you have SwiftKey? Sometimes when trying to download new language packs it will continously try connecting to the server. Amazon app store as been reported as doing this as well.

I had over two gig. Had move all to my computer, then bring them back like 10 at a time till the problem came back, then check the last 10. Found one that would play, but had something funky in the tag. Cleared the tag and no more problems.
