For some odd reason, I want to install Linux, but what would be the best version for a first time user? Any help with Linux in general would also be appreciated.
Linux

I recently instaled ubuntu 11.10 my first linux ever. The process was fairly simple, and so far im really liking it. If i could have all of my daily windows programs work on it with no probs, i can honestly say i would do away with windows. Also i hate to send anyone to another forum but try askubuntu.com great friendly comunity. A few people who may look down on you for being a noob. But for mmost part great help just like hear.

I've dabbled with Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Gentoo, and CentOS over the years and never ran into anything so significantly different between them that I really cared. I'd say go Ubuntu just because it is the largest community.
