Chris Lacy, the developer for popular Twitter client Tweet Lanes, is at it again with a new app: Action Launcher.

Action Launcher is intended to "get you where you are going, faster." I have been using it for almost two days now and i have to say I am very impressed. It has features that are unique to this launcher and I am a very big fan of them.

Action Launcher's main new change is the removal of the app drawer button and transitioning to an app panel at the left side of your home screen. As you see in my first and second screenshots from my device, you have either the choice to tap the All Apps button on the Action Bar, or you can swipe to the right side of your device to see the app panel appear on your screen. You may also go straight to a specific letter and choose an app from there.

Another main feature is called "Covers." Covers offer both single action shortcuts for a specific app or actions from a specific app. For example, if you want to make a cover for Google Chrome, add a bookmark to your home screen. Then you drag the bookmark to the app as if you are creating a folder, and once created, you hit the overflow button to make the cover. If you single tap the app, the app functions as normal. If you double tap the app, the cover opens up to the bookmark you made.

Other than that, that's pretty much it. It's going to run you $3.99 in the Google Play Store, but I think it is worth it for a minimal and fast launcher. I recommend this launcher to anyone. It is definitely worth a try.

Radioactive is my favorite song by them, also my ringtone. :P

I was reluctant about buying it at first but I'm glad I did.

What's the point of these launchers except for custom roms. For ie htc with sense and samsung with theres. What benefits do we get to run on top of our phones?

They all look a little different and offer different things. I like Apex due to the scrolling bar on bottom. I used different launchers on my OG Droid before I rooted it, as I didn't like the native icons.

With this launcher, it is really nice to be able to access your apps from anywhere. On native launchers, you need to go "home" and open app drawer. With this, as I am typing from tapatalk, I just scroll from left to right to see a list of all my apps.

I have been using Smart Taskbar for years, so I have this ability with any ROM or launcher.

What I DON'T like about this launcher is that from the list of apps, you can only "launch" them, not add them to home screen. With Smart Taskbar, you can launch, view details or uninstall.

This launcher is simple and clean. 5 icons at bottom. You can make them "folders" as well, so rather than just "browser" on mine, I have all my browsers in there..... Haven't played with it for too long, as Apex (built in to full Throttle Killer Bean ROM) does all I need....

Disappointed and hurt. Not surprised.
