I have been using Blur based roms and have had success using Paragon's software to mount an sdcard as NTFS and HFS. My problem is that I still get a notification that a blank, unsupported sdcard has been inserted. I can not get rid of this notification. Anybody know of any workarounds?

What brand of card? Size? any other info you can provide, did you format it using the phone, or did you format it using the computer? Or have you been using this card the same way, with no changes?

Also... How old is your sdcard? They do have a limited lifespan... If it is out of life, you can get the same error(s) ....

I didn't explain my problem well. I have full read and write support from this card on NTFS, ext4, HFS, and exFAT using Paragon exFAT, NTFS, & HFS+ from the market. It lets me mount the card to whatever directory I want. I just use the default sdcard-ext.

The process is goes like this. I insert the card. The Motorola auto-mount software recognizes that a card has been inserted, but it does not recognize the format. It displays a notification that says the card is either blank of has an unsupported format. Then Paragon recognizes the card and mounts it to the directory I indicate in the apps settings. The Motorola notification remains and I can not get rid of it.

My current avenue of thought is perhaps there is an apk in the Motorola roms that specifically handles the mounting and indexing on the internal and external storage. Perhaps I can freeze this and just use a 3rd party app to handle mounting. I am hoping that a developer might have some knowledge of any of the Motorola apks that may handle this.

Also I have discovered that although the card is mounted successfully, when using mass storage, mtp, or ptp for the pc connection, I can not access the card.

I worked with the developers at Paragon when the product first came out as I needed access to my external hard drive which was formatted NTFS. However, I never tried it with the sdcard. Has this just happened with a new ROM you are trying? If you are using safestrap 3 and it works for 1 rom but not another, then it could have something to do with that particular ROM and there might not be a fix from the developer.

I also used the Paragon product on my Toshiba Thrive and it worked fine with ICS. However, it quit working when we started using custom CM10 ROMS on the Thrive and I had to use a different app to access my hard drive properly. I do want to emphasize that I have never tried it with an SDcard on either of my devices.

Good luck and let me know if it still works with the old ROM you were using.

Currently I am on Safestrap 2.11 because I don't change roms often and I like to have my full 8gb of internal storage. I am using Evolution 5, but I assume that this is going to be something that will affect all of the roms based on .211-.215. I can in fact read and write from the card once the 3rd party app mounts it, but I can not get rid of that stupid media scanner notification about the card not having a recognized format. Really the goal for me is to just suppress the auto mounting in android so I can do it manually with the 3rd party app. I am going to post this in Razr General so that if I do come to a solution, it will be easier to find. Thanks for the thoughts and help.

Sorry I was not more help. You can always write Paragon for help. They were great to work with.

Has this been going the entire time you have had your phone...... Before and/or after rooting etc... And is it an og razr? (in case i missed that)..... have you considered using the utility and fastbooting back to stock.... That may solve the issue.....

I think it is an android system thing, meaning something on a lower level would need to be changed. For example, if you install so many apps that you fill the storage, you get a persistent out of space notification that keeps bugging you unless you uninstall them. So, unfortunately, it is probably not a simple / easy fix, and you probably would need to do the mod yourself.

I also feel that the above statement may be your avenue to try as i just formatted a Class 10 64 GB SD card too fit my OG Razr even tho it at first kept saying BAD card! i put it in my laptop and formatted from there now i have ALL 64 or actually 58 GB avail in phone.

So I got a kind of workaround figured out. I make 2 partitions on the sdcard. First one is a 32mb FAT32 partition. Second one is the remainder of the card as NTFS. Android mounts the 32mb FAT32 partition, thinking it is just a 32mb sdcard. Then Paragon mounts the NTFS partition onto the "Storage" folder I put on the FAT32 partition. That way android won't pop up a notification about the sdcard not being formatted correctly.

Ok I have made substantial progress on this and have come up with a fairly good solution. I have posted a guide in the Droid Razr How-To's.
