I've seen some flushable zips for soft key mods for the OG RAZR. Would they work on the M?

No, they will not.
Most of the time, the way the soft keys are activated/deactivated/modified is by changing XML and/or images in the SystemUI.apk. So that means you would be flashing a System User Interface from a Razr onto a Razr M. If you're lucky enough to get it to boot (doubtfull), your notification pulldown bar will be missing at the very minimum.

I think im not sure and i dont have links to back what im going to say up. but im sure back in the day when i had the OG RAZR there was an app in the play store that added softkeys or if you had stock softkeys it would replace them and give you lots of customization.Thanks. I tried just for the heck of it. Bootloop was the result.

Why ask if you were gonna do it anyway?
I told you what would happen.

LOL, because you did give a glimmer of hope. Is there a tutorial of how to do it? I was able to change them on CM10 (loved it), but couldn't get it to flash to stock. So I'm on Eclipse, but miss the custom soft keys.

Doesn't both the stock M rom and Eclipse have soft keys?

They all have the soft keys, but they are the standard stock icons. CM10 themes allow me to change those icons or take it a step further and add to or take away soft keys. I'm liking the standard set of 3, but would love custom soft key icons. I'm willing to do it the hard way, if I could find where the icons are located.

The icons are located in the systemui.apk in your system/app folder but it would just change the icon the function would stay the same unless you know how to do java and whatever else work to mod that too..They all have the soft keys, but they are the standard stock icons. Thanks! I The function is fine the way it is, though I hope to learn java. I extracted the systemui.apk but couldn't find them. I'll look again.

You couldn't find them in drawable-hdpi in SystemUI.apk?Found them. It was framework-res.apk that I extracted before.

I did find them in systemui.apk I was thinking, that is where I was looking before, but it was framework-res.apk that I had been looking in. All good now.
