The phone will not power up when pressing the power button.

Phone will not go into recovery when pressing power button and v up + v down at the same time.

Connect charger to the phone and the phone boots up to the M, then slowly turns to black.

All was ok yesterday.

Is there a way to access the phone without getting into recovery mode?

ADB doesn't recognize it.

W7 device manager sees it but says it has problems.

I realize the above is not a lot of info, but it's all I have.

Any ideas on how to get this phone to boot up?

Unless the battery has gone bad. Sorry to say but it looks like you have been bit by the memory chip failure that has been increasing as the 926 gets older. The one way you could be sure is if you have access to a black hat adapter or a factory data cable that allows flashing with a dead battery.  I believe you can get a cable from ebay but the adapter is no longer being sold.  Not sure what the cost of a cable is now days but I am almost willing to bet the memory in the phone failed.

Thank you for replying.

My apologies for taking so long to answer.

Progress: ADB recognizes it but says it is offline.

adb devices

TA261046PJ         offline

This is in Ubuntu.

Plug data cable in and battery light (green) comes on for a brief time.

Measuring voltage at battery connection cable is 3.89. So I take it battery is charged and good.

ADB in W7 sees it as TA261046PJ.... offline.

Occasionally, PWR and V+ AND V- held down works.

RSD recognizes it but when trying to flash, it says it can not connect.

Since the battery light comes on and I can get into stock recovery some times, I'm assuming the screen is ok.

Before problem, phone was unlocked and rooted.

What happened to cause this:

Tried to flash TWRP.

Any help appreciated.

Above is a little refresher on the adb commands.  If your phone doesn't have adb debugging enabled the commands for starting the server are listed.

To make sure you have adb setup correctly.

I thank you for your help.

I'm tired of trying to get this up and running... over a month, off and on.

If you would like to try, I'll mail it to you.

Fix it, keep it, throw it away, sell for parts.

Thanks again,

dlw
