I've been having this problem where when i go to check what's been draining my battery, most of the time i see android os on the top of the list with an unreasonable amount of battery usage. It's happened to me on .748 and now .173 with stock rom or on a custom rom, the only time it hasnt happened to me was on stock 748 not rooted and its happening to me on stock 173 rooted so i really don't know what i should do because i'd like to be rooted and have a custom rom on 173 but the battery drains 30% over night which is too much. i turn bluetooth, wifi, data, brightness down, all those things and i dont know what to do so if somebody could offer help that would be nice.

Thanks

I'm getting excellent batt life. With that said I have noticed also that Android OS is always at the top of the usage list w/ at least 40 to 50%.

Maybe try wiping and reflashing using Matt's Utility Tool.

bumping this as i'm having the exact same issue on a stock rooted razr maxx AND a stock rooted razr.

I had originally written it off as the product of LTE idling, but the razr was on wifi all day yesterday and the maxx was on LTE, and Android OS usage is very high on both.

I suggest you download System Panel and Battery Monitor Widget from the Market. Together they will tell you what is eating up CPU time and how much power is being drained, and you may be able to isolate the process. BetterBatteryStats can help, too, if wake locks are keeping your phone from sleeping overnight. Also, Autostarts will help you prevent apps from starting up on their own when you don't need them.

Thank you. I don't think it's that though. CPU spy shows that sleep is not an issue. i am running battery monitor widget, hadn't put betterbatterystats on these phones yet but i will do that.

Check the history in Battery Monitor Widget. Overnight, with connectivity shut down, mine draws about 8mA.
