I rooted my Razr MAXX, and used Safestrap to install 4.1.2 on rom-slot-1. When I reactivated the stock rom slot and booted back to it (running v 4.0.4 rooted), the Bedside/dock mode stopped working. I tried other apps like "Bedside" and "Razr Dock" but none will open automatically when inserted in the dock, and none that I've found have all the features of the stock bedside mode, like weather display, music, etc. Also "Smart Actions" no longer works. It opens but doesn't actually trigger anything. I tried to at least trigger "Bedside" with "Smart Actions" so it would open when docked, but it doesn't opn when docked, I have to manually open it. This is a big downer for me, as I was using my phone as an alarm clock when docked. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure there's not something wrong with the dock? I've run all of the JB roms on the JB kernel and haven't had any trouble with my dock. I"ve gone back to stock too (4.0.4) and it's always worked. It doesn't seem likely that it's software related if it doesn't work on any rom. The fact that you can't trigger it with smart actions either makes me wonder if it's even detecting the dock. Does the phone charge when you plug it into the dock?

It charges in the dock, and worked perfectly right up to the moment I rooted the phone.

Only thing I can think of to try would be clearing the data for it. Settings>apps and then select "all" at the top. Then find Motorola Dock Service and clear it's data.

I tried that, didn't work. The dock app is working because I can manually start it with the third party app "RAZR DOCK". But it won't automatically start when I plug it into the dock, which leads me to believe it's something to do with "Smart Actions", which seems to be completely broken.

Same issue here. Can't pinpoint exact time but right around rooting. Have desk dock and car dock that register on other razrs but not mine. Would love a fix since I use the car dock all the time and desk dock as bedside clock.

Hello.

Same issue here.

I did read that non-Motorola ROMs would not have the Smart Actions app which then led me to believe (not sure if I'm correct) that these would not have the dock feature (bedside and/or vehicle).

However, ever since I re-flashed a stock image there is no sign of the phone detecting either dock.  I'm using the 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.US version. Any further advice on this?

It would be so nice if someone could code a small app for us Motorola users which just starts up the car mode + GPS or so and shuts them down after exiting the car mode

What concerns me is that even re-flashing is not returning the phone to a "true" factory state--it still misbehaves.

I used fastboot mode to flash using the cdma_spyder_9.8.2O-72_VZW-16_1ff.xml.zip file, but still no change when I plug the phone into a dock.  Am I missing something obvious?

Would flashing the ROM a different way (not fastboot) help any?  Is there some file or set of files that hang on and do not get changed by a fastboot re-flash?  I don't particularly care about losing data on the phone (it's all gone now anyway) because I have copies of the files (downloads, etc.) that were on my phone.

What is interesting is that there are apps listed (when I view all apps) that mention "dock" which means to me that the phone is technically capable of detecting the dock; it's just not changing modes.

Maybe I'm forgetting to change some setting?

I appreciate any help, ideas, etc.

Thanks!

(Edit: Removed a redundant, repetitive phrase that was not needed because it repeated something I had already written before.)

I don't have a physical car dock (I have a mount that holds the phone on the dash, but doesn't activate Car Mode).

Instead, I use "Car Mode control" to toggle in and out of Car Mode:

I also use "Car Dock Home V3," from the same developer, as my car mode app:

It has options to change system settings (turn things on and off, adjust volume) when going into and out of car mode.

I tried "Car Mode Control" and it does absolutely -nothing- on my stock JB :ß

This one at least turns the carmode ON but in order to turn it OFF you need another app -.-

That doesn't really satisfy me.

Hello.

None of the apps mentioned above will take my phone out of car mode.  I must turn the phone off and then back on to exit car mode.  After that my notification volume is at maxim (can be startling) regardless of the setting prior to car mode.

Any other ideas and/or suggestions?

my guess is something to do with boot script not setting the right owner / permissions for mot_whisper which is responsible for sending the signal to dockcomm service.. we had non working webtop on bionic board

that's why I use project lenses recovery :-)
