What method were you using? The direct method from Dan? Matt's tool? Which Razr model do you have?
We need more info than 'it didn't work'.

Do you have the errors it gave you when rooting?I tried to root my Razr 2.3.6 with motofail but not working. How do I root?

Do you have the errors it gave you when rooting?
I used your utility (1.4) to restore .173, then used option 2 to root 2.3.6. I also cannot root and this is the output:

I ran Dan's Motofail and it was successful. I should have attempted to install/run the RazrBootstrap-v2.0.apk as a test to see if your utility worked regardless of the errors.
I am rooted now after running Dan's Motofail utility.
