You won't lose root when doing a factory data reset. That only clears data and cache and does not mess with the system partition where the su binary lies.

Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

Is there a possible benefit from doing a FDR vs. the wipe I did in safestrap?

Also what about this--"I have a inverted flashable playstore if you want to try also." (or was that sarcasm?)

Flash in safestrap and wipe cache after to be safe.

Alright, now I have done a factory data reset. I was able to install the .apk for the playstore finally. But the s*** won't open. I now have a new error that says 'unfortunately play store has stopped!' I can even see the 'terms of agreement' behind it that opens when you first open the playstore, but can't access it. Can't get to titianium backup to restore things. very frustrated...

Any reasonable ideas, I will try!!

No play store did not show up so i put it on. I had the file from yesterday. Yesterday I was trying to add it manually and it wouldn't take. Today after the FDR I put it on, but it will not open!!

I am going over to see if there is anything HoB 10.0 can do for me? I have been reading and re-reading...

Very strange. Yea the hob will get you the fresh start that you will need. Only problem is root. Idk if he has incorporated that some how in there or not.

No and he said he is not going to either. unless he does it for the linux version but root can't be done through windows.

Yea root is achievable now but not everyone knows Linux (including me lol) that's why I didn't want him to have to go that route. But what's a android phone without a market lol might be the only way to go

Without the market my phone started to act weird. At this point I have no other choice but to FXZ and at least get my phone back into working order. Maybe there will be a windows version of root sometime?

very unlikely as everyone who seems to know a thing or 2 about that says there won't ever be one because windows just can't do the things linux can.

it says "unable to open file of this type"
here is the file: com.android.vending-1-DL-1.apk

Rename the apk to com.android.vending.apk

Boot into Safestrap, go to Mounts and mount system

Navigate to /system/app and delete the original apk.
Navigate to where you saved the new apk, tap it and select copy. It will let you navigate BACK to /system/app as your destination folder.

Wipe cache and dalvik.
Reboot.
Clear the app cache for Play Store in system settings.
