Mmm do you have it set to allow unknown apps to be installed? Settings> security

Still same error? You should be able to install that apk no problem. Idk what else to do. :( sounds like you need to back up your apps with titanium back up and wipe data and dalvik cache. Then try installing the apk maybe. Up to you. I'm sure someone has to be able to help us out here.

I know have 5 copies of the apk com.android.vending-1-DL-1.apk

Still same error. I don't want to lose root by wiping data. I really don't know what else to do

Just throwing darts here... rename so it is com.android.vending-1.apk. That is what mine is called. then try to install again

Next thing to try is you can move the apk to root->data->app location and fix permissions to rw-r--r-- then reboot

By the way...You won't lose root just from wiping data.

my son had the same issue on his bionic prior to the jb update. he tried all these things. unfortunately, factory reset was needed to fix it.

I don't think I have done this reset before. Do I need to do anything to prepare my phone. I use titianium backup. I am worried about losing root access, should I temp unroot with voodoo first??

Just back up all your apps with titanium. Boot into safe strap and choose wipe. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. You should not lose root ( I wipe all the time) and you'll have a fresh start. Only problem is that you still won't have the play store. But the wipe might help with installing....

i'm thinking you lose root and data and are set back to the newborn state with a factory reset. don't know about safestrap and if that needs to be removed first. there is a new jb root exploit if you can do linux.

You won't lose root when doing a factory data reset. That only clears data and cache and does not mess with the system partition where the su binary lies.

Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
