For added help for numb skulls like me who try to plug in prematurely, perhaps add a line of text after each prompt in Oracle that says "DO NOT PLUG YOUR PHONE IN YET". Then at the correct stage say "WAIT FOR DAEMON TO START SUCCESSFULLY, THEN PLUG IN YOUR PHONE". I finally figured it out, just thought this would help make it idiot proof haha :p

I don't see why not since it is a virtual machine.

You will need to get the Mac version of virtual box obviously.

I've tried under bridged and I don't have an option under name. Under NAT I can actually get an IP but I can't get my phone to connect. I'm lost. I'm sooo tired of stock I'm loosing my mind. Help. Do I just need more sleep to figure it out?

You have to have your computer and cell both connected to same WiFi connection.

Yeah, same wifi at my house. On nat is the only one that goes through. Then I go into files and remote storage enter info and phone says no connection.

Sorry, under bridged network and then in name I have no option so I can't use that one. I run it under nat and has Linux IP then I go into remote storages on my phone and enter in the info as it says no connection after a bit on my phone

I'm going to apologize right now. When installing virtual box...install everything. Numerous droid x's, x2's evo's and bionics that I've done this was new to me. And I would like to thank everyone who made this possible and trans tech for a quick reply.

Just did this  on my new(ish) bionic. 3 things: Timing is key for the hardware button step. Too late and you'll only get partial root (Su binary update in SuperSU will fail if you are too late). Wait for the daemon to start before attaching the phone, too!!! If you're running a HP DM1Z with the AMD APU combined CPU/GPU and you keep getting BSODs in VirtuaBox, try running the .ova on a Mac. It worked for me.

I keep getting the error message to update the SuperSU binary.  I believe I've done all other steps correctly, the phone vibrates like crazy.  I've tried uninstall superuser from any files I can find (old rom files after I deleted safestrap).   Last week I visited HOB and did an FXZ with the keep data option.  I am totally stumped, have done this process at least a dozen times and end up with the update binary error message each time.  Help, please.

No, I saw some talk of it in the Lair.  I was using Marty's Sun virtual box method above.  I assume I can find the house of moto on the main forum page?  Thanks, Kaos, for responding so quickly.

I think you're right, something is lingering and causing issues.  Just went over to House of Moto and am DEFINITELY heeding Sam's advice.  I need to read some more, there are a few steps I'm unfamiliar with.  Hope to see you on the forum tomorrow. xo

I hope not!  A girl has to have choices!  Everything runs flawlessly (well almost, anyway, lol).  Having never used any VM before, your instructions made this a very simple process to follow - thank you!  I've spent hours, literally, today, trying to get past the updated binary message.  But this is my fault, not yours.
