Sort of off topic but wondering. When you wipe everything what happens? I just installed twrp 2.3.2.3 and its a little scary taking that step.

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but think of wiping cache/dalvik like clearing your cookies in your internet browser - it won't erase data, it just clears out any hanging processes

wiping system, I think, deletes any ROMs/programs

factory reset wipes data/etc....

I always do that when flashing a different build ROM.

when upgrading a specific ROM build, you can just wipe cache/dalvik and you'll retain your apps/data/etc.  the new ROM just writes over/replaces any duplicated apps

You got it man. Good analogy about the caches.

what steps are you taking to install PAC?

here's what I did/recommend:

1. mount everything then backup your current ROM via TWRP to your external storage (takes about 20 minutes)

2. mount everything then wipe cache/dalvik/factory reset/system/internal storage

3. reboot recovery

4. mount everything then install PAC

5. mount everything then install GApps

6. reboot system

just so we are on the same page, is this a good link for PAC

, if so, what release would you recommend?

That link isn't even for our device. You want this one.

right, Rik - make sure you have the right device first (common mistake with the Razr family).

so, on the PACman build, the developer is very active in terms of updating the build frequently with the latest kernels.  his latest release (the only one that you can get now) has the R7 kernel I think, and that enables you to record videos.  however, video display is not working yet.

I have a suspicion that once it gets working, there will be a new build to flash (as opposed to just flashing the kernel).
