No Bubba, I never said they're not trying to get people off unlimited. I'm saying your (not just you individually) phone isn't f%$king up and freezing because you won't upgrade..

Just out of curiosity, what are the fee's/penalties for going over the allotted data cap?
Do you get charged more or just get cut off?

You go over... you pay...or they up sell you so not to pay the additional Charges or plan.

Very STRANGE how my wifes phone(still on gingerbread, eol, totally stock droid3) has worked flawlessly since day1 up until 2/3 months prior to her upgrade eligibility date.. You say they have better things to do than mess with people? Any way to make money my friend... A couple months ago on t.v. a Verizion rep stated that "Everyone on an older version of android(device limits) (such as my wife) will have to upgrade devices as will become obsolete/unsupported," another part of this statement was something like "by the end of the year we predict all eligible upgrades will be made" Kinda STRANGE a statement like that is said and within days my wifes phone is having idiotic issues like storage problems, freezing, MAJOR lagggg, calls not going thru!! Obvious to me they pushed "something" unwittingly to her device. Sounds nuts? I heard what i heard from verizion rep and seeing this first hand is more than a coincidence... What do they gain?? Its obvious. Anyone else experiencing "recent" issues with older android versions? My wife has always refused to let me monkey with her phone as she has been 100% satisified with gingerbread.. Text, calls, fb, bank app, she is happy with the simply tech... Unfortunately this will change for her as her phone becomes more unstable. No she didn't download app/internet mumbo jumbo to cause this. Her routine is simple, basic, and NEVER changes. Unlike VERIZON.. Don't think it's possible? We sent people to the MOON in the 60's, dont be naive, anything is possible and anything goes with TODAY'S big bizz.. Edit: tryn to find this statement to post but worse than finding needle in haystack...

Driod Razr XT912 CDMA SpYdEr RC4 cm10.1.0 Rockn dtrail1's KERNEL...Weeeeeeee

I'm glad we're comparing VERIZON to NASA. Bubba was right, I do need a raise.

Do a factory reset or something. There's no magical switch in the MSC that says 'hey, this guy needs to upgrade. Let's make his phone freeze.'

Reports show people being offered incentives such as unlimited talk, text, or other similar changes/upgrades to their plan for as little as .47 cents and as much as $5.

Sounds like a bargain but what they aren't openly advertising is that any change or upgrade in your plan will exempt you from the unlimited data plan.

I went into the verizon store about a year ago and asked about unlimited talk and text. I currently pay per text and have 700 minutes shared on 3 lines. I am a data user (no longer in the top 5%) about 5-8 gig's per month. The rep i spoke to setup a plan for me to get unlimited talk and text and 4 gig's of data for and additional $20 per month. I said "I am going to pay more for less?" she replied with "you'll have unlimited text". I said thank you and walked out the door. I have been getting free texts from VZW about the new Galaxy S4, but I listen to what all of you say and I know that if I upgrade my phone I will downgrade my account.

Thank you all for this great bit of info.

ummm??? Cant a person save some$$$ and buy his/her choice of device out right without losing unlimited data? Do the math, see how many months it will take you to get back even for buying outright, and after that you will still have ur original unlimited data!!! and no extra fees for that data/OG plan(grandfathered plan) This is my idea when i decide my OG droid razr cdma spyder is ready to retire.. Another benefit to this is you will never again be under contract.

Yes hugger, you can do this. Apparently people think that if you've got unlimited data, new phone or not, Verizon is gonna slow you down and turn your phone into a non-op piece of junk.

i c... well, as far as the data service goes i highly doubt Verizon would take that chance as they advertise "fastest network." No computer wizz but i know enough to say all it takes is a simple program to find out where the "data leak"(loss of speed etc.) originates from and unless VZ starts advertising/hiding in small print the "network" has been slowed to these specific individuals this will not happen....Not only is this bad business but this is how CLASS action lawsuits are started and big bizz has been wiped plenty clean in past.

Edit: So buy the dang device outright!! Buck VZ where it counts :lol::lol::lol:

Never said you eluded to it...just disagree with some of your business information.

I've been down this Road with Upgrades before my friend...it has nothing to do with my phone freezing or my phone screwing up...

This nothing to do with individuals being singled out...step out of this forum and read some Storm Stories with Verizon

Who said anything about banning anyone??

Look guys I'm pretty much done with this thread. I am of the mindset that nothing anyone says here is gonna change anyone else's mind about this topic. Bottom line is Verizon can do what they want and we can go along or go to another carrier.

I'm closing this...
