The Devs have stated its not that easy to get back to GB. You can't just replace files. Its not that easy. If you read through alot of these threads you'll see all the discussion about this. ICS leaks update certain files that can't be simply flashed over with GB files.Using this method, would it be possible to substitute the 181 fastboot files with the VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-73_DHD-11_TA-3_1FF_02 fastboot files.
and the 206/208 boot image with the boot image of the incremental update that follows and flashing that OTA.
If we could do that, then it would be possible to to get back to a gingerbread image prior to 181 putting us back on the official path.

Not that easy? I thought it was impossible....
Not that easy means there's a way and if such exists, please show me the way....

uhm. no "not that easy" does not mean there is a way. it just means you can't replace one file with another like all these people keep suggesting......its been discussed at length in several threads on possible methods. at this point in time its "impossible" to fastboot back, yes.Not that easy? I thought it was impossible....

please help? do you have any more info? hard to figure out what you did. I'm assuming after flashing 181, you flashed the 208 boot img, installed the 208 leak, booted into 208, flashed the 85 and rooted, and upon reflashing the 208 it fails? more information on what you did or did not do would be helpful. otherwise there are step by steps posted all over the place that might help you figure it out -ok i fast booted .181 from utility, check. did the .85 to re root, check. then ran the .208 unstuck, check and booted in recovery to load .208 files, fail. please help

ok i think i figured out what i did i unpluged when iy said the first failed op in the .181 fastboot then i did the .85 rooted and then tried to install .208 and no go. i got it now i think. this time i let it finish .181 changed the text in the .bat to .208 flashed that booted in recovery and the .208 is loadeding. now after its set up thats when i should flash the .85 root then reflash the .208 option #2? thanks every one
Could you take some time and write more clearly? Following the instructions should get .208 installed just fine. Make sure you wait for all the operations to finish this time.

Can I do a safestrap backup on 206 and then do an advanced restore after upgrading to 208? I'm using mybackup pro and while it does a great job, you still have to go through several steps to restore. Anyone done this?
Read the OP and let your common sense figure this one out.

Or you can just answer his question?
To answer the question, no that will not work.

Hey, I have a super dumb question. Is there anyway to get back to a completely stock leak after installing custom roms? I really wanted to get back to test something out. I fail to mention disabling safe strap and trying to do a restore left me with nothing but failure. Just curious if this method would work.
Sure. Use Matts utility to flash 181, then using stock recovery, re-flash the stock leak. I have a bone stock 206 build as my non-safe, and flash a custom ROM on the safe side. This way i can always get back to stock if needed without fastbooting.
