Since getting my hands on my first RAZR, which I traded a 4s for straight up, I have become a moto fanboy. Top notch battery, on par specs, and a great dev community. I had the of RAZR, the maxx, the m, and the HD. The ultra and x could have easily intrigued me. However, with sub par specs, I couldn't imagine passing on a note 3 at a similar price point. Moto will lose this sale easily. I will happily pay an extra 100 to Sammy for an inch bigger screen, (I'm not a phablet fan,) an extra GB of ram, a similar battery, 1080p and possible external sstorage. I can survive with out storage as I don't store much on my phone.

I like the X. I see kanging, but I don't. Open source is open source. Could they have gave a little recognition? Sure. I will probably buy the X. I am grandfathered ul data, so I plan on getting shafted at retail either way. 600 for this, 650 for S4 or about the same for HTC One.. I guess it comes to personal preference and a few specs. With the X8 operating the way it does, it sure seems it can hold a candle to the One and S4.

I think i'd rather have a LED than this thingy. This is just another reason not to but the X. The biggest is price. I love how some sites that love Motorola are talking about how the spec war is over but appearently only Motorola got the message. I have no problem with them releasing a mid tier phone but only if they price it that way instead of trying to act like it's a top tier phone like the SGIV or HTC ONE or the LG OG2 coming.

That's how I'm feeling as well. If I could get one off contract for like 400 then I'd consider it. I'm really not a fan of losing the option of the external sd card because then it's just an android based iphone to me. That's huge for me and I think too many people are going to overlook it because its such a small detail. If motorola gives an oem unlock for it then I may consider it but I'm still kinda pissed there isn't extra space. It was a big bit of allure for android to me that I wouldn't need to worry about storage so much

I like having the SD card also, considering I've had a few instances of bad flashes because of a bad download that wiped out my phone. Since I keep everything on an External SD card I didn't loose anything, except the one time my SD Card got wiped also somehow. The SD card and removable battery is why I am looking towards the LG OG2 or if that doesn't come to Verizon then the SGSIV.

First off I was NO fan of the pricing on retail we've heard so far which mind you is NOT fact its a rumor still, IE there is no final pricing posted for retail on this device yet except for what AT&T mentioned which is one carrier not all. Second issue was i was kinda let down as well on specs however after some thoughts this argument of specs IMHO is getting overblown.  for one they is very minor price differences in the high specs of device like the HTC One to S4 dont let anyone fool you. None of these devices cost them much more then about 150-225 to build so we are ALL getting ripped off no matter how you look at it. Just a matter of how you choose to get taken to the cleaners is all. However that also does NOT cover all the cost of R&D put into said devices. On top of all that this argument of specs war is BS, half of what these clowns put into devices is completely unneeded, but we have this silly idea in our heads bigger/more means better. Hate to tell you folks that is NOT always the case. The issue at hand for along time has been software and optimization of the device. Prime example of that is the iSuck. Non of the iSucks have released with top notch hardware yet they perform very very well in real world use. Ppl really need to get off this silly bandwagon of specs specs specs, its just hogwash.

Last but not least on pricing lets not forget we are putting Americans to work buying said device. And we all know buying american is going to cost us more. Seriosuly tho this day and age we should ALL take pride in buying american when we can to keep americans working. I know its easier said then done but again we should at least TRY.  I'm more then willing to pay a premium to keep Americans working then sending more of our hard earned $$ back to Asia.

Man the more I see of the Active Display I'm totally digging it. It's incredible innovative. Just for the fact alone of pulling it out of your pocket and it automagically gives you the time and notification without a button press. And it's something useful you will use almost every time you touch your phone as opposed to the 15 non-useful "S" features in the S4.

Can't phones currently do that or is it just shutting the screen off when it's in going into your pocket?

Not an obvious ripoff to me. Either way who cares? If Android wasn't so open-source to begin with nobody could be developing this stuff in the first place.

I can't f'ing wait to get a Moto X. It looks like a kick ass phone, plus it's made in f'ing AMERICA. I love it. I love this Razr but it is getting old.

It's "assembled" in America. It's made in China

Made in China, assembled in America.  Not exactly "close enough" for me.

Nice, the assembly building and operation is owned by a company in Singapore.
So I'll give em 50% for hiring Americans to "assemble" the Moto X, but OF COURSE the money still goes overseas to the contractor hiring these people.

they can. there are apps that can do it on any android phone, but having them on all the time kills the battery in no time.

Gotcha, I mean I'd probably end up shutting a feature like that off if I had it
