So its killing me not flashing any of the updates. I am back on .181 waiting for the OTA but after reading this thread, it occurred to me that I have never been on stock in 8 years of flashing, so why am I waiting for an OTA. I have always been on OTA modified roms and not had an OTA update.

Is the danger of flashing any of the 200 series updates that I will not be able to flash an OTA mod rom when the time comes?

Nobody can give you a 100% yes or no answer to that. Based on the way the *leaks* have been moving, if the OTA follows that same path, then it's likely (again, not 100%).

Run the unstuck209.bat file and you have an option to load .209 kernel or .85 kernel

First time poster, long time reader, chronic ROM flasher modder guy.
First, thank you for all the hard work you and everyone puts into making it possible for razrromjunkies like me able to get so many great flash fixes...Namaste brother.
Flashed n rooted. 206 on friday, 208 yesterday n 209 today ! 209 DOES seem smoother than the previous so far...I dig it!
(I tend to get a bit longwinded, so before that happens....)

edit: i have ran it over and over and get the same error.

You will get that message sometimes, just reboot (black screen for a bit) then force reboot and go back into recovery, wipe cache and re do install.

I don't know how orthodox this is... but it worked fine for me. I flashed .209 from .206, flashed system and preinstall only from .181 and it updated fine for me. Saves a lot of time and saves your data (but not root).....

Flashedn 209 from 181, but the home key does nothing, and when I place the phone on the dock it also does nothing. The homekey vibrates the phone, but doesnt do anything, and the same for the search key.

if i am into .181 could i use utility 1.1to install 209 if i change he zip and crc file name to "Blur_Version.6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US"? i can't get passed status 7 using moto recovery.

Then you are doing it wrong. If you haven't fast booted back to .181 do that. Dont install ANY cwm recoveries, use ROM Manager free version NOT the paid version. It is supposed to fail the first time and succeed once you exit recovery, go back into it and wipe cache and reinstall.

Maybe I should just copy and paste this every once in awhile, people keep asking the same questions.

that's been the one thorn in my side the last few weeks. continued repeats page after page.....if only newcomers took 10 minutes to read something before asking. I'm going to just start copying and pasting myself....
