Now that's not true. I have been on 181 since the official OTA and will continue that way until the ICS ota. Lol you'll never be alone.

So what happens if you brick the phone while you're on a non fastbootable leak? I'm just curious, I'm trying to talk myself out of flashing it since I won't have a computer til Monday or so...

Well the easy answer is, if you're worried about bricking then wait for the official ota.

Having had a DROIDX that I flashed pretty much everything on, I know its gonna happen at some point in time. So, I'm just asking what is the procedure without having fastboot files?

Haven't tried it myself yet, but it shouldn't be a problem. You will need to install busybox if you haven't already.
