Think Twice Before Ics

It's as if everything has be simplified to the max, making the phone as easy to use and flashy/ quick for beginners, yet if you have been on Android, for me since Froyo, everything is becoming increasing more time consuming to re-learn and figure out. Simplicity does not help those who want control of every aspect of their phone. Thats just my 2 cents.

Over all I like ICS better than GB. Only few things did I like better on GB,,,, like FB sync for contact photo. (You can use HaxSync for that.).
+1 for APEX!!!!!! LIke ICS but much much better.
I was using GO EX on GB.... I have not tried it on ICS but it does include a task manager.
FB sync or contact photo is on ICS as well. It should come up first when you add facebook as an account and open it (i think). If not, under accounts, select facebook, and select the box for syncing contact photos

on a stock ics this is true....You are loco. There's only ONE bad thing about ICS. It's that I can't long press on the screen and add a widget anymore. That's it.
but on my rom I have the option..

The other think I miss is the pulldown toggles in Eclipse. What used to take 2 clicks, now takes 3.
And finally, the dialer. I do not like having the contacts missing from the dialer. Now I need 2 icons on my home screen for what used to be just 1.

If you install Apex launcher you can do that again. Apex launcher is VERY similar to the stock launcher but with a few added features. It's free in the Market. You are loco. There's only ONE bad thing about ICS. It's that I can't long press on the screen and add a widget anymore. That's it.

I like many features in ICS. I wish I had stuck with my perfect set up running Eclipse 1.3 with Launcher 7. My chief complaint with ICS is the goofy way that Gmail handles any images in emails. I really hate the View/Save box that is on the top of every message. For our company email, everyone has those tiny logos in their email signature for Linkedin, facebook, twitter and our company logo. So every single email has all of that junk at the front and you have to swipe down to see the 2 sentence message.

I'm not sure why so many users miss this, as you're not the only one, but contacts are accessible via the stock phone app by pressing the search button.
Granted, this isn't a hard thing to figure out if you're new to Android... but if you're coming from GB, then users aren't going to even think about pressing the search button for contacts. This goes to Moto for not informing customers on their ICS page. This is even more of an annoyance because Moto was fully informed, on average, every hour during the soak that users didn't know about the search function opening contacts. They should have done a better job informing.

are you referring to your bars or the actual signal db?

Forget what the bars show for signal they are absolutely meaningless in all honesty. you need to look at the actual dB reading to know what it is doing. As for battery get use to it. ICS does in fact use more battery then prior Android versions. don't get me wrong its gotten better since the early days but it does still use more. Hell when I got my Gnex which was prior to public release the first version of ICS I couldn't even barely get 7hrs out of the battery before it was dead.
on GB i had around 85-90 dB, on ICS its usually around 100-105 dB. there is a problem.

i don't want ics i wanna go back to gb 181you can wipe data by doing a FDR, or launching Moto Recovery, and selecting wipe data/factory and wiping cache partition.
You can also start from scratch by reflashing ICS if you brick

I noticed the same thing about the battery levels. When i was on GB i had almost full bars and now i only have three. My signal is fine just reads lower. And after all the waiting i went through to get ics i will never go back. And besides I love ics !!!!It is funny, my phone shows lower bars now with ICS than it did on GB. The DB levels are still the same but the bars display lower for the same DB level. I compared both my Razr Maxx's side by side one with ICS and one with GB. I looked at the GB phone before I upgraded and then right after in the exact same position. The DB level was still the same but it showed less bars. This was the same for both phones so I know it isn't just something wrong with one of them. The bars don't really matter anyway since it is just a gauge to show you the signal strength.
As far as ICS goes, overall I like it better. There are a couple of things that I liked better on ICS but overall it is an improvement.

Add me to that list too. I have been on Android since Froyo and was annoyed about the missing contacts. I really never search my contacts since I just scrolled through them so I didn't think about trying the search button. The one negative to the new setup vs the old is now you have to get rid of the keyboard to scroll through the contacts compared to just opening the contacts like before. A minor issue but I don't consider the new method a better method.I'm not sure why so many users miss this, as you're not the only one, but contacts are accessible via the stock phone app by pressing the search button.
