I have not been able to find a clear answer. I know you cannot use the motochopper to root a Blur 9.30.1 on a locked device. What about an unlocked ? Sorry if this is a redundant question.

The reason why I am asking is in case I need to flash back to factory (to fix a problem) I am curious is to which version is best or does it matter?

On an unlocked device you do not need an exploit. You flash root binaries thru custom recovery
