I've updated the OP to be more informative, I was just SO STOKED when the news dropped I had to get it on here ASAP. The OP reflects a real OP now and not just some giddy high school girl gushing over her crush...lol Sorry.

Who isn't giddy about it?? This is amazing news for the RAZR community!

That is very good advice, which is why I'm glad to have asked about an ETF instead of an ETA. Notice I offered a range of categories: hours (1-24), days (1-7), weeks (1-52), decades (facetious). Again, I'm glad we agree with one another.

Days to weeks based on how these guys have been cranking this stuff out.

Thanks for your thoughts. :-)

I'm not giddy at all about this. The word giddy don't even begin to describe the feeling I have. lol

So available memory is going to be less with Kexec? Screenshot shows 706 MB available as opposed to the 840 it is on regular roms. Not a big deal just an observation

I think it has to be because you're essentially booting 2 kernels. If I understand how this works, it boots the stock kernel to satisfy the locked bootloader then hijacks the boot process to boot the custom kernel.

So its basically 2nd init, but being able to use a different kernel... right?

Pretty cool

That's two pieces of shocking news in one thread:

1. Kexec on the RAZR

2. tucstwo is a high school girl

It doesn't boot both. The bootloader may still check that the correct stock kernel is in /boot, but the hijack boots the custom kernel. It seems that on the GS3, the recovery partition contains the custom kernel and boot must start there(such as booting into stock recovery to boot the phone instead)... not sure if that's how we will have to do it or not.

Custom kernels and camera is the only thing I miss about the nexus. This will take care of one issue :)
