so with a custom kernel we can natively boot other custom roms built for other phones without hacking and fitting it to fit? i don't get it but i guess the more customizable options the better so yay? lol.

ok screw me for being lazy and waiting for someone else to explain something. time to research on my own.

I'm in the same boat as you....I've I've tried every combination of rebooting, toggling back and forth i cannot even get 1x. I once got 3g with an earlier build but didn't last long.

From my understanding this means that kernels that aren't signed by moto can be flashed. I'm not familiar with kernels but I don't think it is so simple as just flash a nexus Rom/kernel. My guess is the kernels are ported tweaked and revised.

This allows the phone to be fully customized and custom radios can be made and flashed. Every ounce of hidden power can be milked and the code can be fully optimized.

Simply put... phone just went from being awesome to one of the best of its time.

To those who are confused and want to know how this helps. Anyone who is trying to run cm10 and can't get data running, this will make problems like that a thing of the past. Anyone who had this phone before ics started leaking from Motorola would remember trying to run ics roms over the gingerbread kernel and what a nightmare that was for both the devs and end users. That's all now a thing of the past.

The best part is, right after everyone gets this up and running Moto will unlock the bootloader. Just a huge f-you to the people who invested hours into the kexec project. Sore losers, Motorola is.

Very cool, Sounds like the process they used on the Droid X to get ROM's like CM7 and Miui installed on that phone. But I dont think they ever got custom Kernels on that device.

I look forward to seeing where this goes, and will be waiting in line to flash away.

I would assume they're going to put it up on ROMbot. I can almost guarantee this will crash the crap out of Rombot

I've got another question...

Does this mean we have a chance at loading custom recoveries and we don't have to worry about bricking and needing to fastboot? Or will we still use Safestrap and just load the kernels through that?
