After talking to a couple members and and Admins, I have decided that for now we will not be changing the name of our beloved site. I sincerely apologize for all the confusion and everything over all this. There are many factors that we discussed which got me to this point and in the end, after reading opinions, thoughts, and just getting a feel for how things are turning out, changing the site name just does not seem to be something we are ready for yet. There are other things that we need to make sure are in place first. I respect the opinions of those that I talked to and feel that we all agreed this is what is best for the site which is what we have to think about first and foremost. The site and members are the priority. Again I apologize for starting this up and not seeing it through. If you have any questions, please send me a PM and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

When I posted I clicked a link from the home page sidebar and didn't see the poll,...
I really don't like any of them myself, oemmod might be okay but I don't think OEM says anything about what your trying to become, the rest are kind of cheesy sounding. Maybe you should just stick with what it is for the time being....

Keeps the origin of the community, hence "DROID" but portrays what the community is currently about.

The list of choices are quite generic, un-original. The community began with a Droid device; I think we should maintain the originality of the community as well as develop a name that encompasses who we are today. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: Or just keep the original name. I don't think any of the suggestions so far "trump" the original name of the community, regardless if we are made of more than just droid razor devices.

A good idea would be, I would let this thread fester by the community first with suggestions of their own creativity of name ideas (Drop the voting choices) -- Then, take the top picks that everyone seems to like and have a community-wide vote.

Gather creative suggestions first -> culminate the best ideas -> Then Vote

Again, just my 2 cents from my experience in engineering and marketing.

This is an excellent idea. If we are talking about OUR community staying together then wouldn't it be best to crowd source some naming ideas??
