Here is the diff between 246 and 247. Notice: I included identical files again so this list is way longer than before, and yet we still come out with 837 identical files and 467 changes.....

of course, Superuser.apk is installed in /system/app and deodexed zips remove the entire /system/app and /system/framework directories before installing the deodexed directories.

yeah, that's what i ended up doing, but if you include Superuser.apk in the zip, you don't have to bother with re-rooting.

But some people may not want superuser...wait a minute, I see the circular argument you're trying to trap me with! Lol....

Seriously, though, it's a good idea, now that you mention it.

lol, what? not trying to trap you with anything. why would someone not want superuser? you can't manage root access without it, unless you prefer supersu; and if you want supersu, it's set up to be able to switch to it from superuser.

As mentioned by someone in the past, though: Simply changing the cert key that is used to sign the apps will change the file itself, even if there is a 0byte change in size.

The DiffMerge software does not, IIRC< take into account differences (or lack thereof) in filesize, so....

Maybe. I haven't gone in and verified manually which file patches actually changed size....

Let me find a DIR compare tool and see if I can.

OK, WinMerge can do it too, I should have known lol....

Here are links for XML and HTML based diffs via WinMerge including file sizes. As you can see, most of them have different file sizes, indicating they are real changes, not just resigned patches.
