I'm new to android (two weeks). I recently rooted my droid razr maxx and yesterday I flashed my first rom (MIUI). I love it, but for whatever reason MIUI doesn't support VZW data yet. So I am in need of flashing a new rom. I have tried several times to flash different roms using Clockworkmod such as CM7, Eclipse, Simplex, etc. Each time I "successfully install" one of these roms, I reboot my phone to find that MIUI still runs at startup. I am at a complete loss. I seem to be stuck in MIUI with no data...can someone help?

I have not tried wiping Dalvik yet. Trying now. What exactly do you mean by formatting system?

EDIT:
Dalvik wipe did not work...still booting MIUI.

Go to mounts and storage then go down to format system. After you wipe all 3 and format system install your new rom, only then reboot. If you format system and then reboot you will bootloop

System format seems to have done something...I am no longer booting in MIUI which is a relief! However, now I'm booting to a black screen. Hoping that this Flick rom is just a dud. How can I boot straight to clockworkmod?

I agree. Use this to get back to stock.

Also before installing roms be sure you have your safe side enabled in safestrap. I have a feeling you were doing all this on your unsafe side. You may want to read up a bit more and ask questions before diving too far into the deep end again.

ugh I can't even get to the Boot Mode Selection Menu...holding down Power/VolUp/VolDown creates a flash on the screen, then black. I'm guessing I'm going to have to fastboot from a computer. I'm downloading Matt's Razr Utility right now...am I heading in the right direction?

Got it. Thanks for all the help, I think you're right about diving into the deep end.
