Motorola XT926 Locked on Boot Screen, Won't Power Off

XT926 Boot Issue

Best Answer SamuriHL , 01 October 2014 - 12:00 PM

It can't write to the phone. We've seen this issue before and there's zero way to fix it.  I hate to say that, but, this is a very ugly problem.  Sorry you went through all that for no solution, but, the phone is basically screwed up at the partition level.  And yours is not the only one like that.  No one's ever fixed one to my knowledge.

File structure looks good.  Run HouseOfMoto again and select full.  Post the output of the terminal window when you do that.

It does the same still. Here have a look, I don't know what's going with it either, extremely frustrating. I know I'm a noob to linux but damn I know its there!!

britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ sudo ./HouseOfMoto.sh

Choose FXZ:

2) Exit

2) KEEPDATA.sh     4) UNIVERSAL.sh  6) Exit

Post the contents of the FULL.sh script from the FXZ_XT926 directory.  Something is seriously off here.

I'm not loving this one.  I'm going to have you try a couple things cause this is pretty messed up.  First and foremost, from your terminal window type:

chmod +x ./FXZ_XT926/FULL.sh

Then run the HouseOfMoto again and see if that changes anything.  If it does not, from the terminal type:

sudo ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot devices

and show me the output of that.

Ok I ran the first command and its just produced a new line as expected. Then I ran the tool and did the options as usual and it spit out the same crap unable to find anything So ran the fastboot devices command (copied and pasted it so there was no room for error) and it produced this.

britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ sudo ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot devices
sudo: unable to execute ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot: No such file or directory
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$

It's like the file is not seen, maybe I can re-extract it on top itself and have it over write it. I don't think it will make a difference but I don't know what else to do. I bet this will work if the fastboot application would run. There is no application to run it from when looking at the file in detail, could that be the problem?

Understand that this is a basically an empty install, perhaps I need to install additional software similar to how Java 7 was needed. Your linux is probably maxed out with all kinds specialized files where as the one I'm running is about as virgin as it gets.

The fastboot command is not working and that's the issue.  So we've narrowed it down to that.  Let's fix that.  Give me a few.

I was at the guide the other day, who knew it would be so useful days later. The first command is doing something, the terminal is ablaze with activity now. The second command installed something related to fastboot. Here's a snap of the output, so we're on the same page.

which fastboot

and show me the output of that.

Well I went ahead and ran it the script before you posted just now, it did the exact same thing and then your reply popped up. Here's the output of that command:

britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ which fastboot
/usr/bin/fastboot
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$

Perfect.  Don't get ahead of yourself.  I'm custom building a solution to your problem on the fly so hang in there. We're almost done.

Type the following in your terminal:

rm ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot

cp /usr/bin/fastboot ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot

chmod +x ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot

./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot devices

Show me the output of all that.

Can't tell what that for but that is not important at this point. Copy of terminal output as requested:

britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ which fastboot
/usr/bin/fastboot
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ rm ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot

It didn't seem to copy it all, trying again...

britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ which fastboot
/usr/bin/fastboot
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ rm ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ cp /usr/bin/fastboot ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ chmod +x ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastbootbritton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$ ./FXZ_XT926/Linux/fastboot devices
britton@britton-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/HouseOfMoto$

I think its just how the site formats the text, that's the whole output though. I hope that correct, I copy and pasted your commands to remove any error in my typing.

It's not showing your phone.  So that's a problem.  Is it plugged in and in AP Fastboot mode?  And make sure you can use USB devices in virtual box.  The phone has to be connected to the virtual box Linux machine.
