Motorola XT926 Locked on Boot Screen, Won't Power Off

XT926 Boot Issue

Best Answer SamuriHL , 01 October 2014 - 12:00 PM

It can't write to the phone. We've seen this issue before and there's zero way to fix it.  I hate to say that, but, this is a very ugly problem.  Sorry you went through all that for no solution, but, the phone is basically screwed up at the partition level.  And yours is not the only one like that.  No one's ever fixed one to my knowledge.

That's why using a linux base OS is suggested.  It makes sure there isn't any Window's stuff mucking things up.

Just follow the install instructions and make note of the Linux specific stuff and it should be fairly straight forward.

Ok this time to avoid any misunderstanding of the process I'm using I'll document it step by step in this post.

1. Downloaded FXZ, House of Moto script tool, and the snapdragon files.
2. Extracted the House of Moto files to the desktop in Ubuntu and it created a folder named after it.
3. Extracted the Snapdragon files into FXZ_XT926, which created 3 folders inside that directory.
4. Then extracted the FXZ to the same folder as the snapdragon data files.
5. Opened terminal and switched to the Desktop folder, House of Moto directory is visible.
6. Modified the properties of/and ran the House of Moto script generator. Script generation was successful.
7. Grabbed phone off charger and placed in to APfastboot mode and connected to the PC.sudo
8. Returned to terminal window and typed in chmod +x HouseOfMoto.sh which I didn't do the first time.

9. Ran the .sh command and it worked, bringing up the options menu. Chose 1 and then 1 again for full.sh

Encountered error.

Please tell me the directory structure under your FXZ_XT926 directory.

Complete directory structure is

Home

Desktop

HouseOfMoto

FXZ_XT926

Linux (end)

Darwin and Windows folders are also present at the FXZ_XT926 directory level. Is this incorrect?

There is a fastboot file in the Linux folder as well. Do I need to chmod that as well perhaps?

The script it supposed to do that for you when it runs.  Something strange is going on.  From the HouseOfMoto directory, type the following command on the terminal:

ls -al > ./house.log

Then post the contents of the house.log file.  Something is definitely not right.

It appears to me that the fxz files are not in the right directory..... Thus, the script can't "see them".....

To me it seems like the fastboot file is an exe and Ubuntu does not seem to even consider it as there. It's there though I can see the file and it's properties information as well.

I'm sorry this has turned out to be such a nightmare, I do hope you are not running out of patients with me. Believe me when I tell you I have read the guide to death. If there is a reason this is not working as expected I do not know what it is. Everything is as the guide says to do, as best I can tell.

Ok I erased the files  FXZ files that were inside the FXZ_XT296 directory and now only Darwin Linux and Windows folders remain in there. I don't want to extract the FXZ until I am sure I understand where they ought to be located.

Do I simply extract them directly into the House of Moto directory where the scrip generator and HOM.sh files are sitting?

Ok that makes sense to me to. So the firmware files were in the correct location, its the Linux subfolder then. Put those 3 directories directly in the same location as the HOM application and its files. That the idea I'm getting here. I'll try that and see what happens.

Hell no.  They have to be at the top level of the FXZ_XT926 directory.  If they get extracted as a sub-directory of the FXZ directory, then it's wrong.  The Darwin/Windows/Linux sub directories ARE correct, but, the FXZ files do not belong in a sub-dir.

No.

HouseOfMoto

   HouseOfMoto.sh goes there

HouseOfMoto\FXZ_XT926

boot.img, system.img, blah blah blah all go there

HouseOfMoto\FXZ_XT926\Linux

   fastboot goes there

That's how it was the first time. House of Moto is inside the House of Moto folder, and inside that folder along with HOM.sh/scrip gen etc is a folder called FXZ_XT926 and inside that folder is the extracted firmware, boot.img emmc, etc. then at that level there is the Linux folder and inside that is the fastboot file.

That's how it was setup, it's how the guide described the proper locations as far as I read it. Is that wrong?
