Yeah for recovery of my 800 gb.... seagate wanted 3grand just to attempt recovery.... and the price would go up per gig recovered..... but its a matter of how much your data is worth to you..... you could have a chat with our good friend Google and look up scott moulton.... he is pretty much the authority on advanced and forensic data recovery.......There is an app for that.
Actually there are several. I'll just link you to a Tom's Hardware page that has several links to try out. I think I've used 'TestDisk' in that past with success.
I wish you both luck in your recoveries. I did have a client use one of those professional companies and they were able to get back his data (68GB) for a mere $3,500. ouch.
