for custom roms but I the mod would be for the 'hold back to kill' feature. 1%, hold back to kill, and toggles are my top three features in any rom. I love many more of course but I would like to have a JB 'hold back to kill' zip. Does anyone have that or considered making it? Thank you for your time.

I requested it to be added to the fuzion ROM utility. I guess its a CM10/ aokp feature. It is one of my favorite features in the development section. It really saves time and keeps everything running smoothly. (Fingers Crossed)

Hopefully it can be extracted and put into the utility at least. That would be cool. However, i don't connect my phone to my computer as often as i flash new Roms so i would still prefer a zip file. Only time will tell i guess

You hold the phones "back" button for a few seconds, and it kills the currently running application.

Yeah, and it helps to read threads before you comment on them... The Op linked to the 1% thread right off the bat, so locating that isn't a problem. What is being sought here is a flashable zip "like" the 1% mod, except that it would add the "hold back to kill" feature to any ROM.

I would also like to have that zip, but I doubt if it can be done without a lot of help from the folks at either CM or AOKP. It would be cool though.

Thanks for clearing that up Dmauldin74. I couldn't have put it better myself.
I wish i could stay getting into learning how to do developing and figure it out myself but 1) by the tinge i learn what i need we'll already be on on 'orange dreamsicle' (the name to a later update i just made up lol) 2) i have too much data with no extra storage space to create a Linux partition

This can't be a universal thing. AFAIK, that feature is part of Settings.apk from roms like CM or AOKP. The issue is, you would then have to flash an entire Settings.apk onto your current rom. This won't jive with the rom your're running and your settings will be borked. So, for now, it's probably wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong, it CAN be done, but it can't be universal. One would need a dif version for most roms, especially those with a custom settings menu or this zip would over-ride it.

That's simpler than I remember it. I'm no smali master but the only thing I see missing is actually Killing the process. It gets the activity but no code to kill it that I can see. the Ft team is good with smali.

I left out the XML edits needed in /res/xml/settings headers.xml but does it really matter? Is anyone REALLY gonna make one of these for every rom out there? I mean, this is most of the code I could find just by decompiling the settings.apk in CM10. But, the right way to do it is to cherry pick the java and compile your own settings.apk for your personal rom and include it. Seems like more work than it's worth since it's not common practice to compile apks from source for blur roms (and CM/AOKP roms typically include this feature natively ). And I don't know where to even acquire ICS/JB Blur source for settings.apk to compile.

Moto isn't required to release ROM source by GPL so they don't lol Can't get Blur source, and smali is 10X more complicated and harder to understand.

xPhone better have source lol
