OK.. cross-post from another area - but wanted to have this in a more public area:

Since the Nexus 6 7.1.1 update and/or maybe it was the Phone app update to 7.0.141193972 the speakerphone has been virtually unusable as it now has a terrible echo for the person on the other end of the line.

Others have noticed this as well:

Those of you with the Nexus 6 on 7.1.1 who have noticed this:
  1. Go to the URL posted above
  2. Click the Star to the left side of the word "Issue" (Below "new Issue" button).
  3. Provide any details

Other than that, the update has been pretty solid.

It is doing it here as well with both of my N 6's. Going to try reinstalling the update and seeing what happens.

Both have comments from other users that suggest this isn't a user configuration based bug.  Some have FDR'ed and it has persisted.

This morning the bug got assigned to a developer.   Reports have been widespread enough they're going to start at least seriously investigating it.   Hopefully we'll see it fixed soon!

OK.. just to update/close out this thread.  It appears the March update:

Seems to have fixed this:

Damn shame it took Google ~2 months to finally fix it but at least they fixed it!

I'm clean installing the march update for the reverse:

Speakerphone works fine, but occasionally using non-speakerphone phone calls, I can neither hear the other party nor can they hear me.

Hopefully this will sort out some of the issues.

Haven;t seen any issues with the phone since the March update. Hopefully that will fix your issue. Wow people actually make phone calls with cell phones ;)

Mine just happened earlier this week, including missing a critical phone call on Monday.

Today, I cannot add an account to my phone - play services gives me the stupid Verifying info loop and does nothing - for up to 30 minutes.

So, yeah, clean installing :p

I hope that TBO has a current blacked-out release of the Pixel launcher....
