I have posted a step-by-step for gaining root and updating to jelly bean when the OTAs are not working here:

this is wierd, my phone, on it's own downloaded the 6mb OTA three times this morning and it is placed on the internal sd in the download folder...WTF ?? It did it at 8:36am, 8:37am, and 8:39 am. I wonder if this was because of my attempts to initiate the OTA via software updates a few days ago ???

Is the verizon OTA working again ???

Well sounds like they might be working on fixing it. Shouldnt be going to your download folder though. Should be going into the cache directory. So sounds like they haven't quite fixed it yet lol.

I dont think they have fixed anything...

My phone has been nothing but wierd since a few days ago. Sometimes its 3g, sometimes its 4g lte, then other times its nothing, all in a 2 foot area!!

Stupid Verizon!! They have a tower 13 miles from here, and can't figure out how to have a better signal where I am. I can LITERALLY step out onto my back porch
and see the tower out on the horizon!! but yet when I step out there, my phone only shows 1 bar on 4g, and 3 bars on 3g!!

Heck, I am about 99% certain I could convice Mom to let them put a tower on the property!! We have enough room!!

That would be great. I haven't found an sbf for 0.7.2. Only 0.6.25 and 9.1.41

There isn't one. Just an OTA. You'd need to fastboot to 0.6.25, root, protect, flash 0.7.2. Then protect again, then flash 9.141 Jb. That's the process.

I mentioned in an earlier post that you could get the update through the moto software on your computer. When I was first having issues with the OTAs, I went this route, but it broke my root access even with Rootkeeper installed and root protected. So, I flashed back and manually installed the updates. If you want root access, don't use the Moto software to update. If you do not care about root access, then the Moto software route is the easiest way to get up to date.

I doubt it. Verizon likes having control of the phone's software too much to get rid of the OTA process. Besides, I know several people who do not have home computers, so the OTAs or bring their phones to a Verizon store would be the only options they have to update their phone's software. Give Verizon a few weeks and they will probably have whatever issue is wrong with the RAZR HD's OTAs fixed.

I actually do not have a problem with Motorola or the way they do things. My problem more lies with Verizon and their insistence of having all their devices locked down. If you have the international version of the RAZR (Maxx) HD, you can go through their unlocking program to have them unlocked. Only the domestic version (Verizon's Droid version) does not qualify, with the exception of the Developer's Edition. I almost bought the Developer's Edition simply for this reason. The only reasons I didn't was I want the beefier battery of the Maxx edition and I decided that I could live for a while without custom ROMs (and if I can't I can always try out SafeStrap).

I heard on the news last night the goverment is looking into this issue of forcing the companies to unlock the phones
sometimes at the end of your contract Verizon will unlock it
Do it now you may not be able to later

The Developer edition is almost a waste because no one develops anything for it! Lol, what's the point?
