The Xmas leak and OTA are not the same. Xmas leak was 98.72.8 and the OTA is 98.72.16. I apologize if I confused anyone with my prior statement. What I should have said is if you plan on side loading this update, make sure that you have the correct file for the build version you are coming from. I am not sure what the difference is between those coming from ICS .211 and the JB leak that was released christmas eve. If you are on the leak, you can take the OTA and retain root with voodoo. The bigest thing that you have to do is make sure that you are 100% without a doubt stock rooted. No apps frozen, nothing taken away.

Was able to get into Recovery and restart the Utility. Seems to be working this time. Will try not to freak out again :)

I couldn't get the 1.9 Utility to set up my phone, but for some reason Matt's Unbrick utility worked instead. It sets up your phone so you can apply the xmas leak (you need it on your SD Card) and from the leak you can take the OTA.

So, for anyone that is on X-Mas JB...
You Need to Boot back to Stock...be Rooted...on 3.11 SS ...than take OTA?

When u say stock... do u mean just boot up to my unsafe side which is the Xmas leak? I was under the assumption that o can't go back to .211 once I took the Xmas leak

You can go back to .211 via Dual Boot...

Mhm, actually they did... Ah wait, I got the original mail here

After filling out the questionaire, they did write in a way that I could expect my participation in the JB test to be a sure thing, instructed me on several details of the testing + feedback process, showed me around some areas of the feedback section in the moto forums etc.pp...

Therefor I think I had a reasonable expectation to hear from them again. Seems they thought otherwise.

No, that means they sent you details about what to expect IF you got picked for the soak. Just because you filled out a survey and got an email, doesn't mean you can expect anything. Again, that was throwing your name in a hat. I only received an email that I was picked and to expect the file about 8 hours before they pushed it. Getting details is different then getting picked.

you have to remove and delete safestrap. stock means stock like what it was like when you walked out of the store with it. stock doesn't include safestrap.

I'm not sure that is correct. The dual boot was created so that people on ICS could boot the JB kernel and run JB roms without installing the Xmas leak. Maybe you could run ICS roms with the ICS Kernel I'm not sure but why would you want to since 90% of the Roms are up to the Xmas JB leak. But is does not take you back to .211 on your stock rom. Once you go JB there is no going back.

Exactly correct. Dual boot method was just a fail safe for ICS users. There's no way you're going back to ICS if you flashed the JB update. Ever.

You're Right from a Stock ROM side... I'm speaking from Safestrap side to .211...that's why I mentioned Dual Boot

Can't I just go Into fastboot and flash the soak zip over the Xmas leak? Or will that fudge stuff up?

was on jb xmas leak, rooted. Preped for ota JB
1. unfroze apps
2. via voodoo unrooted/rooted
3. left it rooted
4. took the ota JB, let it install
5 when phone booted up it says "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped."
6 clicking okay restarts it, but it immediately fails and the voice says "loss of service, verizon wireless"
7 rebooted, same thing
Thanks for any help

I'd start with a Cache wipe...

Hey all. Just had a successful OTA update.

1. I ran OTA root keeper before the update.
2. Clicked install for the update and let it do it's thing.
3. ran OTA root keeper after update.
4. Installed Superuser.
5. ran OTA root keeper again.

Everything seems to be alright because running wifi tether and it requires root.
