Question about rooting/unrooting and factory reset

root unroot factory reset

Best Answer squalle , 26 April 2013 - 08:34 PM

Matt's utility worked like a charm! Many many thanks! I went ahead and used option 1, then rooted with option 3. Formatted my internal and SD cards, just like a brand new phone now. Now to get my apps back on, starting with TB.

And this evening, my kids showed me the Jelly Bean "easter egg" app too. Learning all kinds of new stuff today. lol

Thanks all!

Hello everyone,

I'm a new user here. I have a couple questions about rooting and unrooting. I have a Droid Razr Maxx and I was rooted and everything was working fine. Then the other night, I was playing with MetaMorph and I changed my wifi icon. The icon was ok, it didn't harm my phone or anything, but half the icon cuts out alot and it just annoys me. So I thought that doing a factory reset would take care of it. But now I know that's not the case. I thought my phone would go back to before the Jelly Bean update, but it didn't. So that wifi icon is still there. I tried unrooting and factory resetting again... same icon.

So I guess my main question is this... Is there a way to take my phone back (of course I made the rookie mistake of not backing the entire phone up) to earlier? I guess I understand alot less of this than I thought I did. Maybe I'm thinking too much in a "windows" capacity.

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Squalle there may be easier ways, but my brain hurts this week......so use Matts utility here:

You can try Option 2, as I believe that will get you back and if not Option 1 definitely will.

There are other things to try like the app Pimp my Rom which can change icons as well, but not sure that will be as good.

OR you can wait for some others to reply, your call :)

If your kids are helping you than you are behind the times :) ....just kidding. Im almost 50 and my "adult" children still ask me to root them, not the other way around. Glad youre working!
