My phone won't boot past the Droid Eye and so because of this I tried the Droid Razr Utility (1.90). This is what I did.

  1. Downloaded the utility
  2. I am on windows so installed the motorola drivers that came with the utility
  3. Plugged in phone in it's current state (showing the droid eye)
  4. Force shut down the phone (held power button and volume up button)
  5. Once shut down I held down the volume up button and the volume down button, I did not hold the power button because my phone automatically turns itself back on.
  6. Selected AP Fast boot in the menu
  7. Opened droid utility
  8. Chose option 1
  9. Pressed enter and it said my phone would reboot
  10. My phone never rebooted and just sat on the AP Fast boot screen

What could be wrong? What could I do? I am also trying to save my data as well...

  1. Downloaded the utility Did you extract it, prior to running it?
  2. I am on windows so installed the motorola drivers that came with the utility
  3. Plugged in phone in it's current state (showing the droid eye) Reboot into fastboot mode first, then plug in the phone.
  4. Force shut down the phone (held power button and volume up button)
  5. Once shut down I held down the volume up button and the volume down button, I did not hold the power button because my phone automatically turns itself back on.

  8. Chose option 1
  9. Pressed enter and it said my phone would reboot
  10. My phone never rebooted and just sat on the AP Fast boot screen  Did you FDR after running utility?  Boot into recovery and FDR, prior to rebooting phone.

What could be wrong? What could I do? I am also trying to save my data as well...You will lose data if you use the utility.

What do you mean by " Did you FDR after running utility?  Boot into recovery and FDR, prior to rebooting phone." sorry I am a total noob. Also I made sure I extracted all the files before running it.

Sorry, factory data reset.  Some people find that they get a bootloop after fastbooting back to stock, if they don't FDR after restoring to stock.

This is your stock recovery screen.  Hold vol- and tap + to get into the recovery menu.

Well now it looks like I won't even be able to do this. I noticed my phone ran out of battery so I went to plug it in and now the led indicator light is lit up white and the screen won't turn on.

EDIT: Well this is quite strange. I originally plugged my phone into my computer to charge then the above happened. I instead plugged it into an outlet and now the screen is working.

Before you do anything else, let it charge up.  If something happens and you need to fastboot, you won't be able to with a low battery.

Ok so I have made it to the recovery menu and I have used your advice of letting my phone charge up. I am now factory resetting my phone. Thank you so much for helping me out. Next time I know I should back up my phone some how. Do you know of any method for backing up your phone?

No problem, hopefully the reset will work and will allow you to boot up. For the Razr, I believe you need to use SafeStrap recovery to backup and flash ROMs. However, I own the Razr M, so I'm not super familiar with the Razr. There should be a tutorial in this forum.

The factory reset did not "fully" work, my phone was still stuck in a boot loop. So I decided to try the droid utility again and this time it appeared as though it was working but then my phone still did not reboot after it said wait for your phone to reboot. This is very strange

Once your Phone is shut down...

  • Hold Power Button/Vol Down & Vol Up Button...
  • Scroll to Fastboot..Now...
  • Select the Up Arrow Key...this will get you physically into Fastboot and your phone will not keep booting...

Now, Just follow the directions giving in this Utility and you should be fine...

Have you tried Wiping the Cache in Recovery? Thats often the reason for bootloops at the animation.

You stated in the OP using version 1.90 and John pointed you toward the newer utility. You want the newer utility.

The drivers that came with the utility are now old. I think you can get the new ones from Motorola.

You need to use the Moto USB cable that came with your phone, and not use a UB3.0 port.
