Anyone that has updated, did you lose root from .206 or .208?

Yes, you have to reroot.

I'm amazed at how many people in here are having trouble all of a sudden... I had no problems and all I did was repeat what I did to move from .84 to .208.. This is easy.

Yep. Not only that, but it seems that the steps all have a slightly different order to them, depending on which thread you read about what leaks. Ive tried every way I found instructions for. It always ends the same way... either I am on .181 or the phone goes as far as the M logo for about 20 seconds before powering down.

If you're coming from .181 all you have to do is:

1. Fastboot to .181 to make sure you're completely stock
2. Root
3. Install ROM Manager
4. DO NOT CLICK INSTALL RECOVERY, AND DO NOT INSTALL BOOTSTRAP
5. Copy the update file and the .crc to /cache
6. Open /cache in a file browser of your choosing that will prompt you which application to use instead of opening the .zip file itself (I can't remember which I used, but yeah)
7. Tap on the .zip and open it with ROM Manager
8. Don't check anything in the popup and reboot recovery
9. It will flash and finish
10. Done! I recommend factory resetting again here. Reroot if you want.

So far 209 is running well for me. Hopefully the little issues I had w 206 are fixed. All in all very smooth. Very good battery life. Nice!

and I just got comfortable with 208. wahhhhhh! Unless its a significant boost over 208, I'm staying.

Also, and I know this isn't in regards to 209, but can I root through Matt's Util still?

You follow the same steps that you used for .208 to root .209

Looks like the battery is worse on 209 than it was in 206. I got 60% after 12 hours on 206 with my normal usage, and now i'm at 60% in just 4 hours.

Did you wipe out the battery status after you flashed .209?

Wiping battery stats from the 7 other Android phones I've owned never mattered. No I didn't.

Nice write up! That's the way I did it back when I could get back to 181. But after which step was Temple Run supposed to be installed? :o jk!

Thanks for letting us know you have had 7 android phones. For me and I am sure for many others, when flashing between ROMs, you seem to get a more accurate view of battery life when you charge your device to 100% then wipe the battery stats and let your phone re-calibrate itself.

Well, I'm really glad I upgraded from 208 to this. My battery took a hit because the Movement sensor trigger in my Smart Actions wasn't working at all on 208. But it looks like it was a bug because it works perfectly on 209 now.

Not trying to start an argument but there has been many articles written that wiping Bat stats does nothing but reset your about battery page. It does not calibrate the battery or let your phone calibrate it. I'm off to work now. Will find some links later.

But your info is false. Wiping stats doesn't help battery life or improve readings. When you charge your phone, the stats reset.

Exactly. You couldn't be more correct.

So very true. Fact is there is so much bad info out there about wiping battery stats I've just given up commenting 99% of the time

Obviously you install temple run after step 8, while you're in fastboot.
