Attention: For the crackflashers that have already taken the plunge, this article will not be in your interest. For the Droid Razr / Razr Maxx users that are using builds between 6.11.744 and 6.14.79, this article is for you.

[Guide] GB2ICS: Fastbootable Motorola ICS 6.16.211 For All Gingerbread Users

If you are on any of the above build versions, you have multiple options. You can either go directly up, or RSD back to stock. Either way is fine, but I am going to write this article based on the idea that we are going to start fresh, so no old bootstraps, or other safestrap versions will prevent us from succeeding.

Thanks goes out to Hashcode for creating this SafeStrap Compatbile Build.
Thanks goes out to Matt for DD'ng an ICS Recovery.
Thanks goes out to XBot [

So wait, you're saying that the .79 leak will be on my safe side and .211 will be on my nonsafe side?

Wait, so since this is .2XX ICS without the new ICS kernel won't a bunch of things be broken, like Bluetooth and WiFI?

Other way around. Non safe will be 79 and safe will be 211. Hashcode basically created a flashable rom of the latest build.

Either way, it is fast. You are using 4.0.4 Kernel, and you are not stuck on ICS.

Can anyone on .75/.79 confirm this?

wouldnt this still be using the kernel from .79 or .75 whichever you chose on the non safe side? I would assume that all the issues from that kernel would come over to the .211 side. Maybe not I dont know?

Hope this answers your question.

This does look a little dated considering it's April. This is an easy fix tho.

fastboot flash boot boot211.img once first ICS is installed, then SafeStrap it.

What exactly will doing this do??

Is it needed or will this just update kernel and keep it fastbootable???

Okay, yeah, I'd say add the fastboot command to the OP. You had the old kernel and the new build.prop

It is probably needed, using old kernel and new system makes bluetooth and wifi not work. It will update the kernel to .211 and keep it fastbootable.

If people are having issues with the older kernels then they need to update them prior to safestrapping. That way safe strap carries over the kernel and the ROM rides on the correct one. I'll fine tune the OP when I get back on my PC which doesn't look like will happen until tomorrow afternoon.

It's the same process we use with unstuckICS.

The utilities say you have to be at .84 or above to flash the boot211 image.

... or am I just looking at the wrong place?
