Sure you can. Our bootloader has always been locked

does it say device is locked and status code zero?.....then yeah its normal all you have to do is run the utility

Mine says locked and I use utility all the time you are fine. You might want to read up a bit

After doing this will I run into any trouble flashing roms that need .211, assuming it is a stable rom. Would it be easier in the long run just to wait for OTA then flash rom, asking because I want to flash AOKP port by droidth3ory.

You're good man... You would run into trouble trying to flash those roms BEFORE doing this. Carry on....

theory doesnt have a ROM for .211 just yet but it will be coming hacker and a few others do have AOKP based ROMS though

because you probably do not have debugging checked and unknown sources checked before you started. also did you install the drivers?

instructions said to go into charge only mode....and unknown sources? i didnt see anything about that...and which drivers? sorry i never did anything like this before

ok unknown sources and debugging enabled are in the settings of the phone. Go to settings then go to applications....unknown sources will b at the very top, once that is checked then in the same menu go to development you will see usb debugging make sure that is checked. Now for the utility, after you have saved the zip file to your computer unzip it (the whole thing) and you should see a folder or file that says drivers that is where you will find the moto drivers those have to be installed before you can run the utility

Honestly though if you are asking these questions you might want to do some research on this stuff because there alot of info that you can find within these threads and using google to find stuff.

especially if you are going to try to go to .211. you may run into problems that are going to be more of a headache. I would just wait for the OTA and just go from there not trying to sound like an gluteus but it would probably be your best route

Another question before ill pull the trigger on this. I dont ever wanna go back to .181 so am i correct that wipe data factory reset will do this for me. I have no plans for a nandroid backup. So if that isnt clear my goal is to have only .211 on my phone thats it dont care about ever fastbooting back. forgive me if this is posted somewhere else, havent flashed anything since my OG Droid. Sick of waiting on big red or moto, who ever is responsible for this agonizing wait.
