Has anyone else noticed the Verizon Location Agent (VLA) popping up? It is apparently new with the OTA we just got. There is a thread here about it, but seems to be some conflicting information.

I have been wondering what the hell this is because it seems like its always running and what the implications would be if I froze it. Its very annoying to have something on my phone and have no idea what it is or does.

Any issues with google maps or making/receiving phone calls?

Update: I froze it, restarted and had no connection, neither data or phone. Took about 10 mins for both to come back but they did. So far google maps seems to be working.

Had slow data connect after first reboot, but it was timed with vzw data outage so didnt think much about it. Everything has worked fine for me every since.

Any app containing big business and location in the title sounds like bad news. I freeze that kind of stuff for good measure. Vzw doesn't need to know my location at all times. And I don't even know if that's what this does but until I know, it's tundra bound.

The only reason I'd keep it on there is because I have insurance on my phone. So, if it gets stolen, they can track it without anyone noticing. Except, if you don't have insurance, you don't need it, so freeze it! :D

I have insurance too and if it's stolen I would be satisfied with a new phone. I'm not that picky that I'd expect them to track down my exact phone to give it back to me. A replacement would suffice.
