Hey Guys,

I was on the phone with Verizon tech support yesterday, when a manager requested permission to be able to download a diagnostic app. After I gave him permission, I received an app on my phone (I don't exactly remember what it was called) that was installed to /system/app. It allowed the manager to look at some diagnostics (battery temp, CPU speed, version info, etc...), and share control of the device with me.

I'm thinking that there's gotta be a pretty big hole somewhere for them to get that app to me (I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the device before). I would look into it, but I'm pretty swamped with work and school. Anyone think this is worth anything?

Yeah using stock. Besides for the fact that the manager had absolutely no idea what he was doing, it was pretty scary thinking about the implications. Of course, the manager assured me that no one could use the app without a PIN, but he seemed stupefied when I asked him if it was possible for anyone else to use that channel to get at the device. He just kept telling me it wouldn't work without the PIN.

I wasn't really worried about things like PRISM before, but now I'm getting there. Going to put on my tinfoil hat now

Sounds like their remote diagnostic tool...

That's what it is, but it definitely wasn't on my device beforehand. I had removed it from /system/app. The manager mentioned that it was missing and that he'd have to send it to the device.
