SuperSU can be updated. Get 1.99 r4, extract it, and install the APK. Then you can update the su binary and you're done. This is really great for you guys!

Some people are claiming an old BL unlock is now working after towel root.

Seriously.  I'm just floored right now.  The luck that the HD/M users have is astounding.  Not only is another exploit released that works across multiple devices (a rarity to be sure!), but, someone "accidentally" put the old TZ back in on the KK update, as well?  Just uh, wow.  yea....wow.  :)  I kinda like the new Moto.  ;)

Hello all,

First, Sam sorry for your loss.

 

I am a new user to the droid razr maxx hd.  I had rooted and unlocked my droid X a few years ago.  Things have changed and I am lost.

Would anyone be willing to guide me through the rooting and unlocking the maxx hd.  I would really hate for this chance to get away from me.

I tried to follow the towelroot download on the phone and on the pc but couldn't get anything that looked like a apk file.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help

Ok, let's see if we can get you set up here.

 

First, grab this:

Click on the lamba symbol in the middle of the page to download tr.apk.  Install tr.apk on your phone.  (You can either download it directly on the phone or copy it.  I was playing around with it earlier and use dropbox to copy things between my pc and phone).  Once it's installed, run it.  That should give you root.  Now, grab this and unzip it:

In the common folder, there's a Superuser.apk.  Install it.  This will allow you to update the su binary.

 

Second, go here and grab the download:

Ensure that ADB Debugging is turned on and that adb can see your phone, extract that, and run it.  That will unlock your device.

You should be able to flash anything you want afaik.  :)  You're unlocked.  Welcome to a world of freedom.  Keep my RSD Script Generator on hand to generate scripts for your FXZ...."just in case".  LMAO ;)
