OMG. I just used House of Blues to upgrade my fone from my Commodore 64 and it CAUGHT ON FIRE! I'm now homeless and my little Corgi dog is all singed and irritable and my epic 8bit pr0n collection is GONE!

I don't read good so I ignored all that red typing stuff and I was too busy downloading Honey Boo Boo (she's so CUTE!) to look at forums but I CAN click stuff and press enter, and I don't know what HAPPENED, but FIRE.

I need you to all send me your real names and addresses and social security numbers so my Internet Lawyer can sue you ALL for One. Million. Dollars. Also, do I need Webtop? And is .246 REALLY (like REALLY really, not just really) the same as OTA? 'Cause I'm gonna buy another one tomorrow (I need your credit card #s too) and try again with my girlfriend's AOL brand computer. I PM'd that Ninja guy and he said it TOTALLY will work.

(.232 -> .246, worked fine, ~10 minutes. Thanks again).

Still not as punchy as you guys,
-S.

I sure hope you were kidding about the Corgi dog!!!!!!! If not, we may have to talk!

WOW!

Followed to here from the old place and lurked for a while. Just registered to get the links to the new HOB since I finally had time to come back down to 246 from 247.

Dont know why I waited till now when I have more free time since this thing was so fast.

WOW every part of this was super fast and easy. You have really out done your self.

The down load was fast ( Thanks to the mirrors !) the flash was so easy and smooth. Mostly what I liked most about the new fxz to 246 keep data option was how fast it took me to 246 from 247. It was epic fast even on the ancient lap top I had to use for usb 2.0 since my nice new HP does not work due to 3.0 USB.

Having gone up the chain with several of the leaks with HOB and reading about the process I know so much more about my phone and enjoy it so much more.

Thanks !

The speed increase is due to not having to flash webtop. That thing's a pigdog. Since you were already on the 24x builds there was no reason to flash webtop as it hasn't changed in the leaks for quite a while. I'm glad it worked well for you. Enjoy!

Hi. I hope this is an easy answer. I re-installed 246 with a clean wipe to start fresh and I noticed I many data drops. So I want back to HOB (Latest version) and ran the radio fix. All seemed to go well but now I cannot get 4G? I had 4G 10 min before I started so I doubt it is a VZ issue.

I went into the phone settings and changed the network to see if that would do the trick but it didn't.

Any thoughts?
Thank you.

I would also give it a little time. I have found that depending on where I am it, it takes longer to get re-activated on the network. Here at work, it seems almost instantaneous, but at home it has taken up to an hour before I get 4G back, even from a full fxz.

I had the same issue the other day. I was screwing around and did the radio fix. I had no signal after no 1x, 3g, or 4g. Did the FXZ KEEP DATA fix and that took care of the issue.. Had to re root after that but all is well

Hey Sam,
Just want to throw a huge THANKS your way.
I had flashed over to the 232 leak a while back and was worried about how to get back on track with the OTA release.
After some trepidation (mainly with reading this whole post) I downloaded HOB 9.2, plugged the Bionic in, and got started. Thats when the XML error popped up. So I re-read the FAQ, Installer notes, & back through the posts for similar problems, with no luck.
Today I find HOB 9.3. Downloaded, ran, phone is now on 246.
You are the man.
Thanks again for all your hard work with this.

Hello Sam. I have used the HoB to successfully flash many ICS leaks through .246, each time keeping my data. My phone was very slow, so I finally decided to re-install .246 with a complete wipe. Now I fear that after many years, I have finally bricked my first Android. I used the HOB FXZ method, and got the errors below. Now I can't even do a reinstall, because I can't get to recovery without these errors appearing.

Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG HAB (CG: webtop, status: 0X0035) Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop)

I tried the menu option to Repair the Fastboot error, but now no matter what option I try, I end up with the above error. I only have 40% battery life, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Ed Janx

Hey SamHL:

A guy at work has an almost rooted Bionic on 246. He had tried to root it and messed up. Tonight, without reading the FAQ, using my superior knowledge, I ran HOB 9.3 on his Bionic. I used RSD and reflashed 246, and then rooted it. Took about 15-20 minutes (I wasn't watching the clock), rebooted a zillion times, and PRESTO! works fine and is rooted!

Again, you da man!!!

How many more places are you going to cross post this? What, you think if you post it on every forum and in every thread you'll get a faster response? Jesus.

I am a member of many communities, so yes, I thought I would. I remember when you were a really nice guy and not so quick to make nasty comments about 'rocket science' and the such. I figured out the proper sequence on my own finally, I guess the sleep deprivation affected me. But for others who stepped on the landmine of trying to FXZ a version that screws up webtop for whatever reason, uninstalling the HOB 9.3, then re-installing the following did the trick:

1) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(9.3).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_WEBTOP_(6.7.246).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_RSD_(5.7).exe

I got lots of errors, but WebTop installed, and the phone came back to life, wiped.

What does the op say about the level of support you should expect? How awesome do you think it is to wake to the same post over and over and over again plus a pm of the same? You think that's going to make me want to be "nice"? Especially when the answer was pretty obvious in the first place. The bleeping utility menu has a fix webtop option for crying out loud. I so love when people complain about my responses... And people wonder why I don't bother anymore.

I read the OP, and could tell before even trying to work through the issue, the root cause being of some concern, that reaching out for help may only get a sharp response. I think you take this stuff too seriously if two similar messages to two different use communities that you monitor get you so bent out of shape. Oh, and I did see your comment about pm'ing you after the fact. Sorry this disturbs you so much.

Especially when the answer was pretty obvious in the first place.

Not everyone follows your posts everyday and can understand things like breaking out 'webtop' in your latest dot release, for whatever reason. I was just trying to FXZ, which is usually a painless process. Perhaps the FAQ's could be updated to clearly warn users of this potential pitfall? :-)

Not a complaint, just noting how you've really changed. You are different than the guy who I remember from back in the beginning of your awesome utility. I was the guy who pointed out potential issues with USB 3 to you, and this is the only issue I really didn't figure out immediately in my 3 years of messing with ROMS, so again forgive me if I think negativity is unnecessary, and essentially counterproductive in life.

And BTW, I tried your fix webtop option several time with no success, so you may have a bug there. :-) Thanks again for creating an awesome utility!

I really wish people could be put in my shoes for just one day. I think it'd open their eyes quite a bit. Personally, I'm rather done with the HoB. It's out there, it works as is evidenced by the hundreds of users who DON'T have issues with it, myself included, and I see no need to update it further. I've largely gone back to the HTPC world and have been quite happy about it. As I said in the OP, people should not expect help from me at this point, as I really don't have the time or patience for it. I'm not sure how much clearer I can make this without taking the HoB down completely. I have zero interest in becoming a help desk for all things bionic.

And BTW, I tried your fix webtop option several time with no success, so you may have a bug there.

Yes, I'll get right on that. "It didn't work" is an AWESOME description of what went wrong and why it didn't work.

I also often think it would be interesting for others to walk in my shoes for a day, as well as countless other who probably have it worse than us. I don't blame you for being done with HOB. But that's the price of celebrity, be it in Hollywood or on some smaller internet stage. You do something that becomes viral then you understandably can't handle the volume of requests. You initialy rode the emotional high, and now you have long passed the emotional low.

To further expand upon your screaming comment about the my lack of information about the fix option not working, it looked like it cleared the error in FastBoot, then when I tried to update the device, it eventually went right back to that same error.

Best of luck to you. I hope you find a fulfilling, calming peace in the HTPC world that allows you to move past your HOB trauma and still somehow allows you to reflect upon its success.
