The FXZ file is the one Kaos linked you to in your thread.  The zip file.

Yes.  That just means the bootloader is locked.  Since you are flashing stock firmware, it is of no concern.

What does it say in the grid at the bottom under row 1?  Does anything show up there? If so, it sees your phone.  If nothing shows up there, it's not seeing it.

Spyder is correct for your particular phone so that's fine.  I'm more curious if the phone shows up in row 1 of the grid at the bottom of RSD Lite.  If it does, then it's finding your phone.  The show device button never works for any model I've ever seen so that's not relevant.

Ok, so, you will need to sort that out.  Did you install the Moto USB driver?

Try plugging the phone into a different usb port.  It should be a usb 2.0 port, not a 3.0 port.  And you're using the original cable that came with the phone, yes?

Ok, so I think the phone just ran out of battery. The screen has gone black and a white light has turned on. I will put on to charge and try again tomorrow. I have to get up early for work tomorrow and it's midnight here. Could the low battery have affected it?

Low battery is VERY BAD.  You can't flash anything to it in that state.  That won't affect it showing up in RSD Lite (usually) but flashing with a lot battery is a great way to brick a device.  Charge it up and try again when it's charged.

Ok, it's weird though because it said battery good in the list on the fastboot screen, then suddenly went black. I'll see what happens when it has been charging all night. I'll see if I can manage a donation after all this though! You must all be shaking your heads with disbelief.

I was having trouble updating OTA, and just went through the process in the OP.  Worked flawlessly.  I "liked" the post, but also just want to publicly say thank you!
