Motorola XT926 Locked on Boot Screen, Won't Power Off

XT926 Boot Issue

Best Answer SamuriHL , 01 October 2014 - 12:00 PM

It can't write to the phone. We've seen this issue before and there's zero way to fix it.  I hate to say that, but, this is a very ugly problem.  Sorry you went through all that for no solution, but, the phone is basically screwed up at the partition level.  And yours is not the only one like that.  No one's ever fixed one to my knowledge.

Yay :D That worked!

Now I see the first screen of the batch file I used in Windows. The phone is on charge, it died becuase I've had it sitting here all this time, in AP fastboot mode. I put it back on charge just before we started this round of forum chat. I'm hopeful now. Not to mention we've managed to make quite a thread here. So if anyone down the road hits this wall again, they will have a fully detailed explination of how to fix it.

I'll give the phone a bit longer to charge and then try it. Will be sure to post the terminal results either way it goes.

OH yeah, while the phone is charging. How about drivers and such? Unbuntu didn't see or do anything when the phone was plugged in. Will the "fastboot devices" command work here to?

No need for drivers per say in Ubuntu ..... That's one reason why Linux is better for working with android devices.....

If you have been on the .15 update.... You cannot downgraded the gpt.main...... If you are unlocked you can downgrade if you choose to..... But we need to get you up and running first...:):)..... Have you tried all the solutions that have posted in this thread so far?...... If not, go back to the beginning and read thru all the posts... Follow the links, download the necessary files, etc....... Then you should be caught up at least.....:):)

Alright I just tried to run the script, but nothing happened. Do I need to run that script generator again, I didn't do that part becuase I had generated the scripts eariler in windows, and I simply copied over the whole thing to the flash drive Unbuntu live file system. In anticipation of having to run the script generator again, I tried to run it but Unbuntu blocked it. So I unblocked it in the properties window and tried again. Now it does nothing, no window or output of any kind. What should I do now?

Is there a RSDlite for linux? As you can tell i'm pulling at straws at this point. I'm here until i can no longer hold my head up from exhaustion.

Here I can show you.

Step 1:

SamuriHL's House of Moto 3.2

Choose FXZ:

1) FXZ_XT926
2) Exit
#?

Chose 1 and then...

SamuriHL's House of Moto 3.2
FXZ: FXZ_XT926

Choose option:

1) *.sh
2) Select FXZ
3) Exit
#? 1
#?

That's it, that's all it does.

Take care :)

Ok, time for me to step in here I think.  A few things...

o) You need to have Java 7 installed, not Java 6

o) You absolutely need to run the jar file under Linux to generate the sh scripts properly.  They are NOT created in windows so copying it over won't give you what you need.  But as mentioned, it must be run in Java 7 or higher.

It should be pointed out that most of this is documented in the House of Moto thread which probably would have saved some time.  In any case, you're almost there.  Upgrade your java, run the jar file to generate new scripts, and then run the sudo ./HouseOfMoto.sh command to bring up the House of Moto.

Yes that is exactly the conclusion I came to last night before heading to bed. So today my plan is to go get my laptop from my nephews, he's been using it the last few days. Once back here I'll use the Unbuntu flash drive installer to install it in a dual boot config on the laptop. I don't want to do that to my desktop, it will make a bit of a mess and I don't want to have to repair the bootloader on my desktop, etc.

I tried to install Java 7, but it won't install, claims it has a dependancy issue and will not continue. Probably due to its live session setup, so a full install is necessary. I'll take care of that as soon as possible.

Not to complicate this discussion, but, this is why I recommend a virtual machine for this kind of stuff.  VirtualBox is free and can run Ubuntu just fine.  When you plug in the phone, allow the VM to connect to it.  And it can be moved to other machines fairly easily.

I hear ya, that is one option, but I don't mind fully installing Unbuntu on the laptop. This way there can be no doubt. I just got back and have setup the laptop for this purpose. I'll try to do the rest knowing what I've learned from you guys. You guys are awesome, and don't let no one tell you any different.

Just be aware if you install it on your laptop, it's going to end up as the default OS when you boot.  The Virtual Machine is an awesome way to go.  Multiple OS without having to reboot, easily operate both environments simultaneously and the ability to delete it if you don't want/need it further.

Looks like I'll have to use the virtual machine method. There isn't enough free space on the laptop's hard drive to install it. This will take some time to figure out as the Virtual Box program is not finding a x64bit version of Unbuntu in the new VM wizard. I tried to set up a VM already but the Unbuntu installer fails to find a 64bit system when it run under 32bit. There is no indication that a x64 bit VM setup is even available inside the Virtual Box software. So I'm going with unknown and will try to manually set it up that way. This could take me all day to figure out and configure, but I'm working on it.
