If I am certain that my stock 215 & 215 kernel are unaltered and I already have SS 3.07 installed, can I just use Lights utility to change to JB kernel? Thanks

Sure, but make sure you have a JB Rom to boot to otherwise it will hang.

Worked like a charm. Installed Matt's JB ROM. Inverted gapps makes it perfect. Thanks again Light.

Guide to install:
  • You must be on ICS and Rooted it does not matter if your on .211 or .215 unless you need to root it. If you are not rooted and not on .211 you can use

to go back to .211 and root your phone. If you are already on .211, then this utility can root your device for you.
  • Download a Jelly Bean ROM(JB leak based ROM) careful because there are a lot of Jelly Bean roms that work with the .211 kernel out there. Below are some of your current options:
  • You must have

(or newer) installed (updrade if necessary).
This is installed just like any app. Once you install the app, open it and press the button to install safestrap recovery. The next time you reboot you will see the safestrap dude show up during boot. Press the menu button on your phone to enter safestrap. Select boot options, then a rom slot, select the data partition that you want to make (I recommend 2GB if you plan on using JB as your daily driver because it's too easy to fill 1GB with apps. Hit create and this makes all the folders in your phones internal memory to allow for rom installation. Safestrap does not effect your stock Rom. Once the Rom slot is created and activated under boot options, you can now go back to the main screen and install the ROM that you downloaded in step 2 above.
    • If you've never Safestrapped before,

      by the creator Hashcode.
      • Note on Safestrap: Safestrap utilizes your internal SD Memory partition. This partition is only 8GB in size. Theoretically you can make 4 1GB data partition ROM slots but this will fill your SD Memory. Since your stock ICS install uses this partition like an SD card, you would get all kinds of warnings and what not whenever you booted back into stock ICS. I personally have only two active ROM slots in safestrap which allows my stock ICS install to operate and not give me errors. If your already have this partitiion filled with movies and music, safestrap will not work until you move some of it to your external SD Memory card.
  • Utilize the

from the OP to switch Kernels:

    • Download the utility and unzip it somewhere on your computer.
      • Install the drivers for your computer if you don't already have moto drivers installed. Remember to reboot your computer after install of drivers.
    • Place the phone in AP Fastboot Mode (hold all three buttons at once from the off state, from the boot menu scroll down with volume down and select with volume up).
    • Connect it to your computer and start the utility found in the OP.
    • Flash the JB Kernel to your phone
    • Restart the phone with your JB ROM slot active and set up your new JB install.
When you want to go back to stock ICS or an ICS based ROM, just go back into fastboot and use the utility to flash the ICS kernel back.

:DThanks alot for the great utility xlightwaverx

Xlightwaver....you da man :-) This is one awesome, easy to use utility. Even without the .215 kernal, my SS backups from 3.05 flash and run just fine on the .211 kernal. Can't thank you enough. But I can but you some cold ones. Donation on the way. Thanks again :-)

Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx booting JB leak based ROM while maintaining stock ICS. (JB Dual Boot - XT912)

In writeup on how to install there is link that takes you to the safe strap thread. From there all you need to do is download the apk to your phone and then boot into your stock ICS and once the phone is all up and running, install the apk. Once you install the apk, open it and install the new safestrap. It should now tell you that you are on 3.07.
