What exactly is it about the current root root method that doesnt work. I don't have much know how to contribute, but was just wondering. I'd donate it I could but funds are extremely tight at the moment.

There is no current root method for a Droid Razr running Jelly Bean. Many lost root when they upgraded from ICS, others never had it and want it, and others, me, got in a hurry and forgot to root during the ICS to JB update.

Well yeah, I understand that, it happened to me. I used the rootkeeper and flashed the jellybean update, tried to restore it (before knowing about matts recovery tool) and it failed, so I fastbooted back to ICS. At that point my phone wouldnt turn on, but I could still access recovery, and re flashed the update. Im on stock JB now with no root, so I get the situation.
I'm wondering what it is about jellybean that makes the root utility 1.82 root process not work.

Smarter people than me will know the exact reasons, from what I have read the ICS kernel is replaced in the JB upgrade. The root methods that are out there depend on and exploit the ICS kernel. Since the ICS kernel is gone, the root exploit fails.
Someone needs to either figure out how to exploit the JB kernel OR figure out a path back to ICS from JB so root can be preserved.

I've successfully rooted the Droid Razr running the Jelly Bean update. The exploit has been successfully tested on one device, but I will need one additional tester before I'm comfortable publishing it. If you are interested in testing, please respond below.
