this is a long shot but can anyone running this leak or anything after .173 comment on Android OS battery usage? There is a pretty large thread going on the motorola owners forum about an overactive suspend process that is sucking battery.

I have never really paid too much attention to my battery stats but every now and then I look and I have never seen my OS go over 12% on any of the stock builds.... don't know if that is good or bad by others standards.

Anyway, just checked mine and it is at 11% right now for OS running the 176 leak. I have been running the leak for about 24 hours now but currently I have not been off the charger that long so I will check again later as I use up more battery and see what the OS is at.

Thanks for the response. Mine is currently sitting at #1 usage, 39%, wifi off, on LTE, very light usage.

Don't want to turn this into a battery thread but it appears to be a bug in the OS rather than an app.

Any application or service that doesn't properly identify its usage to android just gets dumped into the "android OS" pool. Hence the high usage. Most of that usage isn't actually the OS. I'm @ 70% batt after 8 hours with the android OS chewing ~ 30% of my battery. There are plenty of other things running in the background that aren't reported on that screen (words with friends/facebook/etc etc). These all usually get dumped into the "android OS" category.

That'd be a question for that thread. ;) I don't follow that particular ROM but if it's 173 based it should be fine. If it's based on the older 748 expect issues.

Dumb question as I think it needs to be a little more clear in the OP. Are you saying ppl should temp unroot, or NOT temp unroot using Rootkeeper before updating. I've seen to many posts on the leaks not being clear where some say yes do it & others say no just protect root. Speaking for myself to date in any of the files I have tried/tested I've never temp unrooted. I just protect root using Rootkeeper and then update and have not had a problem.
