Verizon isnt the only carrier with good coverage. Cricket carrier is only $45 a month unlimited everything and I get service everywhere I go. I wouldnt dare pay that much for VZW . cricket is backboned off sprint network
It depends where you're at. Here in the Seattle area, Sprint's coverage is horrible. I paid an etf to leave them

To confirm what was asked earlier about buying a phone and swapping it on your plan without changing from unlimited - yes, you can do that. I just did that maybe 2 months ago when I bought my Maxx on eBay. Still have unlimited data, and still wishing I was on a different network...
The OP fails to mention that the data plan cost is simply that. Verizon even outlines it first thing. A smartphone plan (per phone, pre-data) is $40/month for line access. Then you're adding on your data on top of that. So for me, to go from:
-450 minutes talk (never go anywhere near that)
-Unlimited text
-Unlimited data
to:
-Unlimited talk
-Unlimited text
-4Gb data
I would be increasing my bill by $30 a month. I told the rep in store when I was swapping to the Maxx that their new plans were a joke, and they're terrible for anyone who's on their own plan.

^ Going to second that. I'm in Mesa/Tempe/Chandler every day, and many of the people I work with get far worse service than I do. I've been considering TMo when my contract expires, but I've still been hearing hit-or-miss about them.

You do realize that other carriers like at&t are/will be adopting the same exact plan right?
You guys can say T mobile will have unlimited data, but you WILL be throttled. I honestly don't understand why you guys pick on Verizon, when every other carrier is $#!+ty.
I was on Sprint before I came to VZW. With Sprint I paid anywhere from $100-130 a month. Right now with Verizon, I pay 90.
It doesn't matter where you guys go, it's the same story in the end.

Seriously? Cricket? If they go off Sprint, then they will be just as crappy as Sprint.

I'm looking for tmobile to pick up a lot of customers with their new unlimited plans. That will increase revenue and allow them to expand their network over the next few years I'm thinking. They seem to have service everywhere I need it though. Wifi calling is cool to fill in the gaps too ;-)
Once my unlimited contract is up, I'm switching to tmobile. The hard part will be staying on a razr maxx that long :-P

The 4 billion dollar bonus ATT paid them is already allowing the expansion

Both have Razr Maxx's and HAD separate Verizon accounts
We both had the following plan:
450 minutes (49.00)
Unlimted Txt/Pix (10.00)
Unlimted Data (30.00)
After taxes and fees we were at about 98.00 /month each.
On the 6GB Share everything plan together we are at 160.00 and she now gets a better discount thru her work so we are around 140.00 / month before taxes and fees.
I fought giving up the unlimited data, but for what we actually used over the past few months, it made sense to change.
If you early terminate a verizon account but move that account to another existing verizon user (as we did) there are no fees or penalties associated with closing the other account.
YMMV

And even if they did throttle me... I rarely go over 2Gb a month, so if I were throttled, it wouldn't be much of a difference (other than in my wallet). I can buy a phone outright, and get unlimited (albeit throttled [if it isn't truly unlimited as you're suggesting]) data for almost $40 less a month, so why do I rag on Verizon? Because I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years, and they only repay me by giving me terrible phone selection, hiking up my rates, and reducing the amount of services that I originally signed up for.

I'll ignore your childish jab and entertain you with an answer:
Like I said, every company sucks in some way. Sure, go with T mobile. But where I live I won't have coverage outside of Portland. Same goes for Sprint.
And yeah, they'll throttle you after a couple gigs, but FOR HOW LONG? When will they start throttling after 1 gig? or even do away with unlimited data when bandwidth becomes an issue?
You could go with Sprint, I guess. I used to have them. Coverage sucks and they'll f**k you with fees every month.
Out here, at&t drops calls like crazy. And data coverage isn't the best.
I was pissed when Verizon adopted an upgrade and activation fee for smartphones.... Then I found out every other carrier is doing it now.
See? They all suck. In the end, you need to figure out which is the lesser of two evils.
