Good Evening .

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I was attempting to run Matts utility on my razr xt912 with the christmas leak ( then rooted after receiving that leak). All appeared to be going well until I attempted to go into recovery mode. Now as I press the power button and both volume buttons I just get the Moto logo then nothing. I could really use a little guidance from this point, Thank You , Mike

I would suggest using the newest Utility

Are you talking about trying to get into fastboot mode?? Try this: Unplug your phone from the PC. Power off the phone. Hold all 3 buttons at the same time and don't let go til you see the fastboot screen

Thank you for the response,

No, it wasn't fastboot i was having issue with it was getting into recovery after going through the utility install. I kept trying and finally figured that out. I now have a virtually new phone...

                    Thanks again

Thanks. Did that last night, worked fine. My phone still wouldn't root. Figure I will just go option 1, than 3, and 4.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

Hello all.

I'm hoping I can get pointed in the right direction here. I previously had a Razr Maxx that was rooted from ICS and was able to successfully upgrade to JB while retaining root using Voodoo. Well now, unfortunately, I had to to unroot and send it back for a warranty replacement (bad GPS chip). In the many attempts to root this new Maxx, I have come up empty handed. I completed all steps required in the 1.90 utility but when I go to install the ICS-to-leak it aborts. I tried the AP fastboot option and nothing happens. I've wiped the cache and rebooted several times to no avail. I'm sure it's something silly I'm overlooking, but I can't seem to pinpoint it. Do you think Verizon re-patched the newest batches of JB in order to prevent rooting?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I ran the utility and chose option (2), and now it's stuck in "writing preinstall" phase for over 30 mins. What could be the error?

The phone is in AP Fastboot mode

I got the security issue when I did the flashback to xmas eve update using option 1. I then did it from fastboot ap and got the same issue. Do i have to use the utility to install the update or was the flashback suppose to work? I am able to use another rom since i am using safestrap, so that keep me from being without a phone.

*edit* Dangit, I am a noob. This was meant for the compatibility flasher forum

Try pressing Ctrl+c and then run the utility again....... If it gets stuck again....try unplugging the USB cord then plug it back in while running the utility (it will show a couple errors but should continue after) ..... Sometimes the phones need that little JumpStart to continue.......

Hey all. This looks like a very simple way to root. I will be starting this proces shortly and I have a few questions beforehand. 1) I will be doing this on a MAC and when it says "move all files to SD card" that have that file name onto my SD card. Well, I do not have any files in the download that have that filename, so what do I do? 2) Has anyone found a video tutorial of how to do this method by using the MAC?

Thanks ahead of time!

Jesse

I think we should lock this thread now since this is Deprecated. and it even says so next to Matts link to his website for the utility, so you can get the latest.

And of course the link Hillbilly posted above is here...
