As the title implies, is it possible to root without first restoring back to ICS 4.0.4? Just got my wife a Razr HD that came out of the box already on JB 4.1.1.
Possible to root w/o going back to 4.0.4 first?

Just do it. It's extremely easy. Read up before you do any big step, and if you screw it up it's your fault. It's a deceptively simple process, and it's definitely worth it.

Thanks, I knew it was easy having previously reflashed my own MAXX HD. I was just hoping to saving a bit of time and some steps. I actually did the restore to 4.0.4 a couple of hours after the OP and subsequently rooted and then did the OTA back to 4.1.1.
