I purchased my Razr a few weeks ago. Rooted using 1.4 FULL and used aShell and aSQLiteManager to do the wifi hack. Worked perfectly. A week later my phone does an OTA update so which I lost root access. So last night I restored back to 6.12.173 and used the same 1.4 utility and now I can't get the wifi hack to work. I followed the same processes. Wifi acts like it works (doesn't send me to a verizon screen), but my laptop, nook or acer iconia won't pickup the wireless SSID. I even tried manually adding the SSID but it never would show up that it was available.

Got my wife the RAZR Maxx last night and tried the same exact process and her wifi isn't working either.

In the process of downloading 1.51 and will try restoring/root process and see if the wifi hack works then.

Anyone else have suggestions on how to get this working on the Razr or Razr Maxx??

Not sure if you are wanting to remain stock otherise, but I lodaed Eclipse 1.3 ROM after using Matt's utility to root and bootstrapper. Eclipse has got it all built in to the ROM and works great.

I've never tried other ROMs before. How do you like the Eclipse ROM? Do you lose any functionality?

I may look into finding a tutorial on installing a ROM. I currently have Safestrap installed, but unsure on how to use it. I'll have to do a little more research.

I like Eclipse, it seems to be the only ROM that everything just works and looks pretty good too. I did it just to get rid of all the verizon bloat, but as bonuses its nice and snappy, adds functionality (like the wifi tether), and like I said, looks good to boot.

I use bootstrap, not safestrap. With Matt's utility and the included 173 fasboot file, theres no reason for the added headaches of Safestrap in my opinion.

(but this is all kinda off topic, hehe)

This really is an easy utility to use and its all packed in a great bundle! Just restored and used the latest 1.51 in hopes of getting the Wifi hack to work again. Unfortunately it still isn't working. I'll do a little more research and see if there is a fix and may even look into moving to a different ROM as suggested earlier. Thanks again MATT!

It can take a good 15-20 minutes for the whole process. I'd just be patient and let it run its course.

The wi-fi hack on my phone was moved from line 150 to 79 so check and see if it was moved else where

When I run the Verizon Wifi Tether, I don't get the Verizon pop up anymore, it seems to act like its working correctly, but its not actually broadcasting.

Make sure your data isn't dropping when you turn on the hotspot


Also did you wipe after you installed ics

I still have my blue 4G LTE symbol and bars are showing good. Internet works while tether is on. I remember my old Droid X dropping data connection when wifi tether was turned on. still unsure as to what the problem is.

Wipe and see if that will help.

I just restored last night using Matt's 1.4 utility and didn't work, and restored again today using the latest 1.51 and still no go. Wiping doesn't help. Does anyone have 6.12.173 rooted with Matt's utility and running hacked wifi?
